Gold Digger vs Gold Saver My Man's Double Life novel Chapter 26

**TITLE: Marriage Without Temperature by Mark Twain**

**Chapter 3**

The incident surrounding Alexander’s so-called “suicide attempt” erupted into a frenzy, dominating conversations everywhere.

Across social media platforms, a tidal wave of netizens rallied together, spontaneously boycotting anything even remotely linked to Sterling Corporation.

Our stock prices took a nosedive, plummeting like a stone, and numerous A-list celebrity endorsers, once eager to associate with us, now demanded to sever their ties.

I fought tooth and nail to keep them on board, but they swiftly turned their backs, joining forces with Chloe to launch a fierce online campaign against me.

They painted me as a heartless, greedy individual, someone who cared little for human lives.

The PR team’s carefully crafted statement, intended to reassure the public, was met with immediate backlash. Within a mere five minutes of its posting, our company account was attacked and subsequently suspended.

Chloe, not content with merely fanning the flames, initiated a petition demanding my removal from the CEO position.

She audaciously proclaimed that individuals like me, wielding power, were akin to holding a razor-sharp knife—capable of inflicting harm at any moment.

The petition spread like wildfire, garnering over ten million shares.

Even our own employees, who once stood united, began to secretly repost it, their loyalty wavering in the face of the chaos.

At that moment, Alexander strode into the room, flanked by Chloe.

His expression was one of smug satisfaction, a look that made my blood boil.

“Eleanor,” he drawled, a mocking lilt in his voice, “why do you insist on putting yourself through this? Things are in utter disarray now; you must realize you won’t survive the next board meeting, right?”

“Why not come to me on your knees? Perhaps for old times’ sake, I might consider lending you a hand,” I shot back, my voice steady as I leaned back in my executive chair, feigning calmness.

“Oh really? And just how do you envision helping me?” I inquired, my tone laced with skepticism.

His eyebrows shot up, a smirk playing on his lips.

“I could procure a certificate diagnosing me with depression, asserting that my prior behavior stemmed from overwhelming stress beyond my control. I’ve been undergoing treatment all this while,” he explained, his confidence unwavering.

“Chloe, not having seen me, believed you were keeping me hostage. Her outbursts online were merely impulsive reactions. Once we clarify that, everything can be resolved.”

“Nobody loses, and everyone walks away a winner,” he concluded, his plan sounding disturbingly plausible.

Listening to his airtight scheme, a wave of contempt washed over me.

I turned my gaze toward Chloe, studying her for a brief moment before speaking slowly, deliberately.

“And what’s the price for this little arrangement?”

A chuckle escaped Alexander’s lips as he clapped his hands together in delight.

“I knew you were a clever woman. This is going to be so much simpler than I anticipated. I want the ten percent that originally belonged to the Montgomery family, cashed out and transferred to my account.”

“Additionally, those two exquisite pieces you acquired at last month’s auction—the jade artifact and the Victorian royal crown. Chloe has developed quite the fondness for them,” he added nonchalantly.
