Gold Digger vs Gold Saver My Man's Double Life novel Chapter 82

Chapter 7

Madison let out a nasty laugh, eyes flashing with venom.

“Still playing tough? Fine. Don’t blame me for what happens next.”

She flagged down Secretary Williams as he walked by, putting on this fake respectful tone.

“Mr. Williams, this woman’s been lurking around acting suspicious. I think she snuck in-could you check her invitation?”

Secretary Williams just barely glanced my way before saying flatly:

“This young lady indeed has no invitation.”

Madison’s face lit up with pure victory as she sneered:

“See? High society has standards. Not just any trash can waltz in here.”

She looked me up and down with disgust.

“Liv Carter, get the hell out! Now.”

But then Secretary Williams’s tone completely shifted:

“Miss Carter doesn’t need an invitation-she’s tonight’s host.”

His eyes narrowed dangerously.

“And you-I’m Mr. Carter’s personal secretary, not your servant. Ordering me around like I work for you? Think you outrank my boss?”

Madison’s face drained of all color. She stumbled backward, eyes wide with shock.

“That’s impossible! Liv Carter can’t be the billionaire’s daughter!”

Jasper started panicking too, his voice shaking:

“Mr. Williams, you’re joking, right? I’ve been with Liv for five years-she never mentioned any of this!”

He stared desperately at Secretary Williams, silently begging him to take it back.

Then a commanding voice cut through the noise from behind us.

“Since when does my daughter need to prove who she is to anyone?”

The crowd parted like the Red Sea.

Chapter 7

A distinguished man in a tailored suit stepped forward and took my hand, his voice carrying absolute authority:

“Everyone, I’d like you to meet my daughter, Liv.”

“I’m getting old and ready to step back. I trust you’ll all look after her.”

The applause was deafening.

Jasper went white as a sheet.

Someone in the crowd spoke up: “Heard a couple of rats got on Miss Carter’s bad side recently?”

“I’m no expert, but I know how to handle pest problems. Happy to help the young lady out.”

Others immediately chimed in with similar offers.

Feeling the hostile stares from all directions, Jasper threw himself in front of Madison:

“Liv, everything was my fault! If you want revenge, come after me!”

“But Madison’s innocent-don’t punish her for my mistakes!”

His dramatic protector act made me laugh.

“Innocent?”

I ripped off my veil, exposing the still-healing burn scars on my face.

“Second-degree burns are innocent?”

“Breaking into my house and destroying my property is innocent?”

Jasper’s pupils contracted, guilt flickering across his face.

“I’m sorry, Liv. I… I had no idea Madison hurt you this badly.”

“I’ll make it up to you-I’ll get on my knees right here if you want!”

I snorted. “Your apologies aren’t worth shit.”

“You can leave here tonight, but it’ll cost you.”

Jasper nodded frantically.

“Anything. Name it.”

I didn’t hold back.
