Gold Moon Mated To The Beta Twins (Meadow) novel Chapter 469

Chapter 469 Bernard I Just Want to Be Your Grandpa

Stella stood in front of Roy with a lazy air. “Guess that means I won.”

Roy was speechless.

He stared at the bold girl before him, and for a long moment, couldn’t find his voice.

Everyone’s gaze zeroed in on Stella.

A limousine with special plates pulled up slowly beside the training ground. The door opened, and a man in a guard’s uniform jogged over to her.

“Ms. Carter!” he called out, snapping off a sharp salute.

Stella raised an eyebrow.

She glanced past him at the black limousine not far away.

The back window rolled down.

Everyone was stunned.

‘Is that… Bernard?’ they thought.

At the rest area, under the shade of a tree, Bernard started opening up his insulated lunchbox, layer by layer.

Stella and Lucas looked totally relaxed, but Joey, now that he realized who Bernard was, sat stiff as a board, wishing he could just vanish into thin air.

“You and Sebastian left in such a rush last time, I never got the chance to thank you properly,” Bernard said.

Handing a fork to Stella with a big grin. “I had no idea what you liked, so I just had the kitchen whip up a bunch of dishes.”

Stella shot Bernard a glance, took the fork, and said in a flat tone, “What brings you here?”

Joey looked like he wanted to disappear into thin air.

‘Seriously, Stella’s got nerves of steel. Even with Bernard right here, she doesn’t even flinch. We compound kids grew up hearing, “If you mess around, Grandpa Bernard will come get you.” Well, guess what? He’s really here! Grandpa Bernard actually showed up!’ Joey thought.

Joey’s head was almost buried in his bowl, and his hand, clutching the fork, was shaking like crazy.

Bernard said, “Sophie’s out of the hospital.”

Stella didn’t even look up. She just grabbed a piece of sweet and sour pork for Lucas and replied, all lazy,” What’s that got to do with me?”

Bernard’s voice boomed, “The Clinton family doesn’t know how to treasure Sophie, but I sure do.”

Joey was speechless.

His eyes darted left and right.

The more he listened, the more he felt like something was off.

‘What does this have to do with Sophie?’ Joey wondered.

Stella said, “You’re still not letting this go?”

Bernard snorted grumpily. “I just want to be your grandpa and you my granddaughter. I’ve made it public. In a few days, at the State Hall party, I’ll introduce you to everyone.”

Joey was so stunned he nearly choked on his food, coughing up a storm.

His eyes nearly popped out of his head.

‘Wait a sec, the “granddaughter” Bernard announced to everyone is actually Stella herself?’ Joey’s mind was reeling.

As that sank in, Joey broke out in goosebumps all over.

Stella lifted her gaze, cold as ice, locking eyes with the utterly stunned Joey. He gulped, shot his hand up in a panic, and blurted, “Stella, I swear, I didn’t hear a thing! Not a single word will slip from me!”

“You’re from the Jordan family, aren’t you?” Bernard squinted at him.

Joey stammered, “Uh… yeah.”

Bernard let out a snort. “You’ve really changed.”

He remembered Joey always rocking those tiny braids, looking half human, half ghost. But ever since he joined the training base, he finally started acting like a regular guy.

Joey was stunned.

That snort sent chills down his spine.

“I’m done eating! Gotta go train!” Joey jumped up and dashed off as his life depended on it.

Bernard watched Joey scurry off like a scaredy-cat and snorted with a huff.

“Has something changed with Blaze?” Stella asked.

Bernard’s expression froze for a second. After a long pause, he sighed. “Why are you always so clever?”

He waved Charlie over and handed Stella a bag with a big “Top Secret” sticker slapped on it.

Stella barely glanced at the contents before saying, still not looking up, “Sebastian’s here.”

Bernard looked up, and sure enough, Sebastian was walking over from a distance.

Bernard doesn’t know what to say.

‘Even from that far away, she can tell he’s here?’ Bernard, though.

“Bernard,” Sebastian said as he walked over and plopped down right next to Stella without missing a beat.

Stella didn’t bother to look up. “Have you eaten yet?”

Sebastian said, “Nope.”

Stella paused, shot him a look, and said, “You trying to wreck your stomach or something?”

Sebastian, caught off guard, looked momentarily awkward.

He looked like a well-behaved kid, just quietly waiting.

Bernard was about to ask Charlie to fetch another fork, but then remembered they weren’t at home, and he hadn’t brought any spares.

He was still wondering if he should send Charlie to the cafeteria when Sebastian just reached over, took Stella’

s fork without a second thought, and started eating like it was the most normal thing ever.

His hand was still all bandaged up.

Bernard was speechless.

‘Looks like I was worrying for nothing, Bernard thought.

“So we only have three days? And after that, they’re going to blow up the whole Island?” Stella skimmed through the file in seconds, then spoke up without missing a beat.

Bernard paused for a moment. “That’s right. In three days, regardless of whether anyone gets out in time, the International Military Council will order a strike to wipe out the island. They can’t risk Fever Syndrome ever escaping.”

“Fever Syndrome?” Stella echoed.

She gave a cold laugh, then flicked the photos from the file onto the table one by one.

“Isn’t it just a virus?” she said.

Bernard paused.

He didn’t say a word.

A moment later.

“The International Military Council is forming suicide squads. They have three days to extract the last researchers from the island’s secret lab.” He looked at Stella and Sebastian grimly. “At any cost.”

Sebastian’s eyes were icy cold as he scoffed.

Bernard lowered his gaze, his usually relaxed eyes now glinting with sharpness. “The plan’s changed. All I care about now is this: for every person we send out, I want to see that same number come back.”
