Logan
“You tried to kill my wife and you know the consequences very well, Raelynn. I will make sure you won’ come out of the prison for a long time.” I spoke calmly.
The woman sitting in front of me laughed, her face showed no remorse.
“Then make sure I won’t come out until my death, Logan because once I leave this fucking hell, I will destroy you and your little world.” She said in a bitter tone.
I clenched my fists. It was clear that she wasn’t in her right state of mind and a mental asylum, would be much better place for her.
“I am not here to entertain you, Ms. Cowper. I only need the name of the person who is helping you. I want the name.” I said leaning closer.
She sat across the table.
“You’re a rich and influential man. It’s a child’s play for you to dig the truth. Go and find out yourself.” She laughed again.
“You’re right. It might take time but I will find out the truth but trust me, your life is going to be a hell after the trial.” I warned her.
“I have nothing to lose, Logan Wilferd. You were the only good thing in my life and now, I have lost you. So, go on and do whatever you want. I am not scared.” She said and turned her attention to the police woman.
“Take me back to my cell. I don’t want to meet anyone from next time.” She said to the officer and her hands were cuffed again.
“Raelynn, one more thing.” I said and she slightly tilted her head.
“To think I loved you more than anyone in this world is my biggest regret.”
Hurt flashed in her eyes but then she turned and they led her out of the interrogation room.
“Mr. Wilferd, the trial will start soon and I will make sure the case will be strong. Meanwhile, you can find her accomplice. If he or she is out there, they’d try to hurt your family again.” My lawyer advised me.
I drove back home with many questions still wheeling in my mind. Raelynn had temper issues but there was no way she could plan such conspiracy alone. I checked her background and found she and Riccardo were no more together.
He went back to Italy and since then Raelynn and her mother lived alone.
When I reached home, I spotted my kids playing in the living room with Tessa sitting on the sofa watching the kids who were building blocks.
“Daddy!”
Lena was the first one to notice me and ran to me as always. I picked her and kissed her forehead.
“Daddy, look we made blocks together.” She pointed her finger on assembled blocks.
“Oh, it’s great. My princess made it.” I praised her and she nodded her head proudly.
“Good evening, Dad.” Lucas greeted me but he was fully concentrated on his project.
