“Hello,” I managed. “I’m Scarlett–Scar is fine too. Whatever you like.”
They were tall, all curves and glossy dark hair, stunning in a way that made me suddenly aware of my
cheap shorts. Their eyes weren’t Jace’s mossy green; theirs were a bright emerald.
“I’m Joe,” the first one announced. “And I’m Junia. I’m older by six minutes.”
Junia leaned in like we were sharing secrets. “So, Scar–Milo’s cock is as big as it looks, right?”
“Joseph!” Jace thundered.
“Don’t call me that, Jay,” she shot back, completely unbothered.
I giggled before I could stop myself.
Jace’s face tightened, half glare, half mortified. He grabbed my hand and tugged me toward the porch.
A woman with chestnut hair and those same emerald eyes stood in the doorway, watching the chaos
like she’d raised it.
“Mama,” Jace said, voice shiftingChapter Unlocked Enjoy Reading’s girlfriend. Scar–this is my
mom, Lydia,”
“Hi,” I said, and my nerves made the word small. I could feel myself trembling and prayed nobody
could see.
Lydia’s smile warmed instantly. “Well, aren’t you a lovely thing. Beautiful, sweetheart. Boys, you did
well.”
Heat rushed into my cheeks.
She looked me over with amused approval. “And listen, dear–if these two start running roughshod
over you, you remind them who’s got sense. They can get… intense. Keep them sharp.”
My blush deepened. “Yes, ma’am.”
Milo leaned around me with a dramatic pout. “No hello for me?”
Lydia waved him off. “I see you constantly. Let me fuss over your lady.”
I laughed, relieved by her ease.
Over Lydia’s shoulder, I caught Joe’s eye and gave her a small nod and wink. She squealed like I’d offered her front–row tickets to a show.

“Mama, we brought lunch,” Milo said. “Well–Scar brought lunch.”
Lydia’s eyebrows lifted. “Did she now? Then we’re eating. I’m starving. I was holding out so I could ask what you wanted.”
“See?” I muttered, shooting Jace a look. “I told you she was waiting.”
They both chuckled.
Inside, I unpacked the basket on the counter. The reaction was immediate–little sounds of delight as each thing appeared.
“Mini éclairs?” Junia asked, eyes wide.
“Yes,” I said, suddenly shy.
Junia clutched her chest. “Jace, marry her. I deserve a lifetime of pastries.” She grabbed two and shoved them into her mouth like she was afraid someone would stop her.
Everyone laughed.
My stomach still somersaulted at the word marry.
We ate at the kitchen island, and praise kept coming–compliments stacked on compliments until my cheeks hurt from smiling. I couldn’t seem to quit, though.
I liked them. A lot.
“Knock, knock,” a voice called, and the front door opened without waiting.
“Eve!” Junia shrieked.
Jace groaned like the name alone gave him a headache.
“Who’s Eve?” I asked.
“Everett Lorne,” Jace said, flat. “Friend of theirs. Total playboy. Avoid him.”
Junia swept in with a blond man at her side, chatting a mile a minute about how he had to try my food
because it was ‘absolute heaven.’
He was tall, fit, annoyingly gorgeous–blond hair, blue eyes, and dimples that should’ve been illegal. He
wore a palm–tree tank, salmon shorts, and white Hey Dudes.
And I knew him.
My eyes went wide with recognition at the exact same time he looked at me like I was the surprise on

his plate.
“Well, well,” he drawled, stepping closer. “Who is this breathtaking little creature?”
He reached for my hand.
Before he could lift it to his mouth, his wrist got smacked away. Jace yanked me against his chest, and Milo came up behind, hooking an arm around both of us like a boundary line.
Everett blinked. Then grinned. “Hold up. I know you.”
I felt Milo and Jace go rigid on either side of me.
Junia and Joe’s heads turned like spectators at a tennis match.
“Yeah,” Everett said, voice gleeful. “Club Uno. I ate your ass while you were blowing my buddy.”
“Shit,” I whispered.
Joe’s eyes went huge. She looked ready to conjure popcorn out of thin air.
Junia leaned forward, delighted. “Wait–what buddy?”
“Bennie,” Everett said.
“Ohhh,” Joe crowed. “Girl, his dick is fucking huge.” She lifted her hand for a high–five like we were
bonding.
I didn’t move. I was not about to make this worse.
Slowly, I turned my head up to Jace, trying to read what was happening behind his eyes. Lust? Anger?
He was stone.
“It was BJ and BM,” I blurted, too fast.
Milo’s mouth quirked. “BJ and BM?”
“Before Jace,” I said, mortified, “and before Milo.”
The room cracked into laughter.
Jace lowered his mouth to my ear, voice rough and private. “You’re going to suck my cock while Milo
eats your ass–so that’s the memory you keep instead.”
All I could do was nod, pulse skittering.
“Enough,” Lydia cut in, sharp with authority. “Leave the girl alone. You’re embarrassing her.”

Relief hit so hard I could’ve sagged.
Then Lydia added, completely unrepentant, “Besides, I’ve seen Bennie’s cock too, and Junia isn’t wrong. Good for you, Scar.”
“Mama!” her kids shouted in chorus.
Everett threw his head back and laughed.
Lydia shrugged. “What? I’m single. I’ve been to the lower clubs. I’ve run into him more than once.”
Jace covered his face with his hand. “I did not need that information.”
Meriu
Lydia’s gaze slid to all of them. “If you don’t want to hear about me and clubs, then maybe the four of you should sell them. I wanted to see what my children built.”
I stared at her. “Wait… you own the sex clubs?”
Jace and Milo swore under their breath.
Joe and Junia nodded like it was obvious.
“Junia and I run them,” Joe said. “Milo and Jace are silent investors. They’re basically our babies. We didn’t want normal jobs–we wanted to be our own bosses. We knew we needed something that stood out, not another generic dance spot. So. Sex clubs.”
Junia jumped in, proud. “We started with Club Zero. Now it’s ten clubs in three years, all themed.”
“Wow,” I whispered.
“Jace and Milo fronted the startup money,” Junia added. “Twenty percent ownership each.”
I looked at Milo and Jace’s sheepish expressions and felt the floor tilt.
They’re loaded.
Summer owns one percent and had told me she makes a mint. Twenty percent was unimaginable.
“You’re… millionaires?” My voice came out squeaky.
Joe nodded, casual as anything. “Multi–millionaires. I think last year they each cleared a little over
thirty million. The year before that, around ten. The first year was their first million.”
My throat tightened.
Thirty million.

Holy shit.
They were so far out of my world it felt like a different planet.
“Excuse me,” I said, too quickly. “I need some air.”
Panic had my ribs squeezing. I turned and walked out, leaving everyone in the kitchen.
I couldn’t compete with their lives. I was nobody. I had nothing. A twenty–five–year–old divorcee with baggage and a past I couldn’t clean up.
They deserved someone polished. Someone who wouldn’t embarrass them with old club stories and
nervous hands.
What am I supposed to do?
Space. I needed space. They needed space–to rethink this, to come to their senses.
I wasn’t even watching where I was going until I stopped dead, something blocking the path ahead.
My heart dropped.
>
Holy shit.
I’m so screwed.
