Under the tense standoff, Madilyn’s voice grew even shaper.

“Is this the service your security firm provides for top–tier rates?” Madilyn snapped, her voice tight with anger. “Do you think I won’t withhold the final payment
At this, the expressions of the guards stiffened. They were hired professionals, and the client was giving a direct order. They couldn’t simply stand by.
“Miss, we must ask you to leave. This is a private service for Mr. Myers. Our duty is to ensure it without disruption, and we cannot allow disrespectful conduct here. One of the lead security personnel stepped forward, adopting a tone of official authority.

Chloe ignored the guard entirely, her cool gaze fixed on Madilyn. “You’re so desperate to have me removed, Madilyn. Is it fear?”
“Fear of you? What a joke. Why on earth would I be afraid of you, Chloe? What are you that I should be frightened? I simply can’t stand the sight of you. Your very presence disgusts me,” Madilyn shot back, her voice rising.
“I thought perhaps you were afraid my being here would expose what you’ve done, Chloe said with a light laugh. “Since you claim not to be afraid, then I’m even more determined to stay.”
As she finished speaking, an attendant quietly placed a chair behind her.
Chloe looked at Madilyn, a faint, inscrutable smile playing on her lips, and gracefully took a seat. She adjusted her posture with elegant ease, the smile on her face only growing more pronounced and unnerving.
Madilyn, hearing Chloe’s words, was momentarily stunned. But after a brief pause, she let out a harsh, derisive laugh.
“What an absolute farce. Expose what I’ve done? I’d love for you to tell me, what exactly have I done?” Madilyn sneered, her attitude turning brazen.
“You know better than anyone what you’ve done. Do you truly wish for me to state it plainly?” Chloe’s light laughter faded, her expression shifting to one of chilling seriousness.
Madilyn opened her mouth to retort, but a sudden, sharp pang of unease shot through her. What had she done? What could Chloe possibly know?
She turned it over in her mind but quickly dismissed the worry. How could Chloe know anything? This little schemer was just trying to get under her skin, using cheap psychological tricks.
If she took the bait or reacted with visible panic, she’d be handing Chloe exactly what she wanted. She couldn’t fall for it.
“Go on then, say it. I’m fascinated to hear what monstrous deed I’m accused of. I certainly have no knowledge of any!” Madilyn laughed, a brittle sound. “Arthur, pay close attention. Listen carefully to how Chloe intends to slander me next…”
Hearing this, Arthur’s expression turned deeply uncomfortable.
He glanced at Chloe, hesitated for a moment, then addressed her. “Chloe, I don’t know what’s come over you today. It’s Grandfather’s funeral, and I… appreciate ou coming to pay your respects, but you must

“Alright, that’s enough. Spare us all your nauseating, self righteous prattle. No one will think you’ve lost your voice if you stop talking.” Chloe cut him off with razor–sharp clarity, leaving Arthur standing frozen, utterly silenced on the spot.
Chloe shifted her icy gaze back to Madilyn, the temperature in her voice dropping further. “Madilyn, with this elaborate funeral you’ve arranged, putting on this grieving widow performance for all the guests… don’t you feel even a flicker of guilt?”
“What did you say?”
“Charles showed you more than enough generosity over the years. Yet you secretly tampered with his will. deceiving everyone here today–even your own son. You’ve kept him completely in the dark.” Chloe let out a cold, mirthless laugh. “You’ve calculated it all rather ruthlessly, haven’t you? Acting as if you’re the only victor in this room?”
Madilyn was stunned into silence for a full second. She stared blankly at Chloe, unable to believe what she was hearing.
Did Chloe actually know something?
