“You’re the absolute best! So generous! Chloe, you’re really- Zachary’s effusive praise died in his throat as he scanned the new document. He froze. “Chloe… you’re transferring all your assets and holdings to Robert? Why? And… wait, why is my name on here too?”

Chloe merely smiled.

Zachary looked closer. He instinctively straightened up, his playful demeanor vanishing as he stared seriously at Chloe. “This… You’re dividing everything up? What’s going on?” A cold knot of dread formed in his stomach. This kind of comprehensive distribution felt like someone putting their affairs in order before… stepping away.

It left him deeply unsettled.
