Chapter 471 Choosing Sides
Finished
Could it really be true, what the rumors were saying? That Chloe and Charles had a relationship that was… especially close, so close that even Robert was…?
Arthur couldn’t let himself finish that thought. Jennifer’s sobbing pulled him back. She was his wife now. He couldn’t ignore her. He had to protect her.
‘Grandfather.” Arthur pulled Jennifer closer, his expression hardening. “I won’t let anyone bully Jennifer or the child she’s carrying. Not today, not ever. You said once you wouldn’t interfere with my choices. Why are you stepping in now? Is it just because the woman beside me isn’t Chloe?”
Charles had heard similar words from others before and let them slide. But hearing them from Arthur- his own grandson–finally broke through his composure.
‘You… you ungrateful brat. How dare you speak to me like that. I raised you for nothing.” Charles‘ feet hit he floor. In his fury, he grabbed the cane from Greg’s hand, trying to stand and strike Arthur.
But his rage got the better of him. He lost his balance and fell back into the wheelchair.
Mr. Myers, please calm down.” Greg stepped forward immediately, pulling a small pill bottle from his pocket. “Blaine said your condition–you can’t get agitated like this.” He offered a pill to Charles.
Charles knocked his hand away. He glared at Arthur, chest heaving. “You worthless piece of–how did I “aise something like you? You’re not just blind–your whole heart is blind.”
There it was again. Even his grandfather was saying it.
Arthur almost laughed. Couldn’t anyone come up with something original? He was tired of hearing this.
Blind in the eyes and heart? Was walking away from Chloe what made him blind?
Fine. If that was the case, then let him be blind.
He kept Jennifer close, his expression flat. The usual respect he showed Charles was gone, replaced by something colder, “Grandfather. If you’re here today for Myers Group, you’re welcome to stay. If not, I’ll have someone take you home. I wouldn’t want the press conference to disturb you.”
He turned to Donald, who stood quietly nearby. “Donald. Arrange a car. Take Grandpa home.”
Donald nodded without a word.
Charles actually laughed at that.
“I’m here for Myers Group, all right.” He forced himself to calm down, looking at Arthur with undisguised displeasure. “Let me make this clear. I’m not changing my will. Jennifer married you–fine, she’s your wife But she will never be part of this family. And that child she’s carrying? Certainly not.”
“Grandfather!” Arthur’s voice rose.
“Quiet!” Charles‘ voice cut through, louder still. “Arthur. If you run this company well, if you keep it stable, I’ll still call you my grandson. You can keep the Myers name. But if you keep protecting this woman and

stumbling down this path, I’ll strip you of what little authority you have left.”
The room went silent. No one moved.
Charles had just said something unthinkable.

“I’ll pretend I never raised you.” Charles slammed his hand against the wheelchair armrest. “And this press conference? A Myers Group press conference is no place for your arrogance.”
Arthur stood frozen. His grandfather’s words had stunned him speechless.
Jennifer watched the room. She saw the shock on the executives‘ faces, the fear some still held of Charles‘ authority. It looked like they might fold any second.
“Charles.” Jennifer’s voice cut through the silence, sharp and cold. “The thirty percent of Myers Group shares in Arthur’s name, the nineteen percent held by the executives and shareholders here—that was earned through years of work. You can’t just take it back with a few words.” She sneered. “You’ve been out of the picture for years. You’re old. Do you really think people still listen to you?”
Charles stared at her, disgust and fury written across his face.
“Do you know who you’re talking to?” His grip tightened on his cane. It looked like he might swing it at her any second.
“I know exactly who you are.” Jennifer’s voice stayed cold. “If you were acting in the best interest of this company, I’d respect you. I’d call you Grandfather. I’d do anything for you. But if you’re planning to hand Myers Group to outsiders, protect some woman with a questionable past, and shut out your own grandson -then no. I won’t go along with it. I don’t care who you are.”
