Chapter 481 Witnesses and Evidence
Arthur stood there, completely speechless.

He was still trying to wrap his head around what Chloe had said–that he could never have children. It was too much to process all at once. His mind just couldn’t keep up.
“Arthur, are you seeing this now? She’s making up lies just to frame me.” Jennifer forced out a laugh, then grabbed his hand again, desperation creeping into her voice. “Arthur, none of this is true. The baby I’m carrying is yours–yours! We went to the appointments together. You remember that, don’t you?”
“I need a minute.” Arthur’s voice came out quiet. He gently pulled his hand free.
Arthur stared at him, but his expression stayed blank. Jennifer’s voice climbed higher. “You’re actually buying into whatever story she comes up with? How can you take something like this seriously?”
“It’s not a story. It’s the truth. I made sure of it back then.”
A strong, steady voice cut through the room.
This time, it was Charles. He’d been quiet until now.
Arthur’s gaze shifted toward his grandfather.
Charles didn’t even look in Jennifer’s direction. Instead, he spoke to the room, his voice heavy with something that sounded like regret.
‘Arthur, when you were seven, the family doctor found out you had issues with fertility. Chances were, you’d never father a child.” Charles‘ tone softened slightly. “You were the only heir to the Myers name. That news hit hard. I buried it so deep even your parents never found out.”
Arthur swayed on his feet, like the ground had shifted beneath him. Charles‘ words hit him like a freight
train.
“Chloe saved this family,” Charles said, finally turning to look at her. His eyes held nothing but gratitude. Back then, if she hadn’t stepped in, I would’ve died. I owe her my life–we all do. Giving her a stake in Myers Group is the least we could do.”
Everyone in the room went quiet.
No one had known any of this.
“You all remember that overseas summit years ago? The one where I landed that billion–dollar deal?”
The Myers Group employees present nodded slowly, pieces clicking into place.
Back then, the company had been circling the drain, weeks away from shutting down. Charles had gone overseas himself to chase down partnerships and save the business.
Nobody knew the full story, but word had spread that something dangerous went down. He’d made it back safe, though—and came home with a deal that poured ten billion into the company. Turned everything around. From there, Myers Group didn’t just survive; it grew.

“Arthur, when I was set up and attacked over there, Chloe saved my life. That billion–dollar investment? She made it happen,” Charles spoke quietly, but every word landed. “I told you once–marrying her was the best thing that could’ve happened to you, to this family. But you never saw it. You were too busy chasing after her.”
He pointed a finger straight at Jennifer.
“This woman never came to you with good intentions. You’ve been blind. Stupid. Can’t see people for what they are. Go on–ask her who the real father of that baby is.”
Arthur opened his mouth, but nothing came out.
“Whoever it belongs to, it sure as hell isn’t you.” Charles‘ voice rose on those final words, sharp and final.
Arthur stood frozen, hollowed out.
Blind. Stupid.
It all made sense now.
They’d all known. Everyone but him.
Chloe’s warning echoed in his head–finding out the truth would cost him everything. Blind and stupid. How had he missed it all?
And now it was too late.
“Arthur, that’s not how it is. Let me explain. This baby is yours–look at the timing, it’s right there in the medical records. You came with me to the appointment. Don’t you remember?”
“Jennifer, how much longer did you think you could keep lying to everyone?” Another voice cut through, firm and commanding.
Everyone turned. Frank stood at the entrance, leaning on his cane. Behind him, two bodyguards flanked a man in a white coat, his hands bound.
The moment Jennifer’s eyes landed on that man, her face went pale.
In that instant, she knew–it was over.
