Chapter 508 A New Master
Since they hadn’t touched her, they must have something else in mind. What could it be?
“Who are you people?” Jennifer gathered her courage and asked again.

The scar–faced man let out a cold laugh. “You don’t get to know that. My boss wants to see you. You’d better behave, otherwise… you won’t even know what hit you.”
Jennifer gasped, trembling involuntarily. Her legs went weak.
This scar–faced guy was terrifying enough. Who the hell was this “boss” he kept mentioning?
When the scar–faced man talked about his boss, there was clear respect in his expression. Who could this
so–called boss be?
What kind of person were they?
The scar–faced man left. Staring at the open door, Jennifer didn’t hesitate. She walked straight toward it, ready to get out.
But suddenly, two women appeared in the doorway.
They were middle–aged, their faces blank. One carried a set of brand–new clothes in her arms, while the other held something that looked like medicine in a cup.
“Who are you?”
Jennifer nervously stepped back, eyeing the two women, but they just walked into the room and closed the door behind them.
“My boss wants to see you. Change out of those dirty clothes. Our boss can’t stand filth,” one of the women said, her expression cold.
Only then did Jennifer realize she was still soaked from head to toe. After everything she’d been through, she was not only filthy but also reeked of seawater and fish.
If she was going to meet this so–called boss, she obviously needed to look presentable.
If these people really wanted to hurt her, they would’ve done it by now. Jennifer figured she had nothing left to lose anyway. Just being alive was a gift at this point. Whatever came next, she wasn’t scared
anymore.
“Thanks. I can manage on my own,” Jennifer said, stepping forward with a smile, reaching for the clothes so she could change in private.
But the women just stared at her, making no move to hand them over.
Jennifer froze. Before she could say anything, the woman holding the clothes stepped forward and started unbuttoning her shirt without a word. Jennifer felt like a piece of meat being prepped for slaughter, stripped of any dignity.

But what was dignity worth anyway?
Pushing everything else out of her mind, Jennifer just closed her eyes and let them dress her. Soon, the was in clean clothes. With a little fixing up, her old beauty quickly came back.
“Drink this,” the woman said, stepping forward and offering her the cup.
Jennifer stared at the liquid, too scared to speak. She didn’t take it, convinced it couldn’t be anything good.
“The baby you’re carrying is a problem,” the woman stated flatly, her words sending a chill through Jennifer. “It’s a miracle it’s lasted this long. Even if you somehow manage to give birth, it won’t be a healthy
child.”
Jennifer’s heart clenched. How did they know that?
At her last checkup, the doctor had said the same thing–the baby might not be healthy. Back then, she’d kept the pregnancy to trap Arthur and hadn’t done anything about it.
Now… these people were saying the exact same thing. This was her secret. How did they know?
Who the hell was this so–called boss?
“If you want a second chance, drink it. If not, you can walk out that door right now. The cold voice came again.
Jennifer looked up, her heart skipping a beat. She studied the two women. Their faces were calm, completely unreadable. She couldn’t get anything from them.
A second chance.
Such a simple phrase, yet it carried so much weight.
At least for Jennifer, in her current state, it was impossible to ignore.
Jennifer stared at what the woman was holding. If she drank it, the baby would be gone. It was just a messed–up thing inside her anyway. Why should she care?
The only one she’d ever really loved was Jenarth. Now Jenarth was gone. Her precious son had left her. All she had left was hatred.
Who was this boss? If they could help her get revenge, she’d do anything for them, even if it meant dying.
Losing some damaged thing inside her–she felt no guilt about that at all.
“Tell your boss thank you,” Jennifer said. Then she grabbed the bowl from the woman’s hands and downed it in big gulps.
The bitter liquid filled her mouth, but to Jennifer, it tasted like hope. Like she’d been given a second chance at life, reigniting the fire she thought she’d lost.
