Chloe stared at Vincent, who seemed as calm as ever. Who could’ve guessed that just a minute. ago, this guy had offed someone with his own hands?
A life had ended right before his eyes, yet he acted as if it was no big deal. To Vincent, getting rid of Jennifer was easier than swatting a fly.
Jennifer had it coming.
Chloe had said it before. She’d been given more chances than most folks ever got, but she never gave a damn about any of them. The fact that she’d lasted as long as she did was already more than she deserved.
Her death wasn’t unjust.
Chloe didn’t say a word to Vincent. She just turned around and headed back to her room without so much as a backward glance.
Vincent stood there, watching Chloe walk away with a faint smile on his face. Then he shifted his eyes from the mess on the floor and looked out the window at the tree. A pair of birds was still taking care of their chicks in the nest, completely unfazed by the gunshot.
“Hah…”
After the shot, everything seemed to go back to normal. Vincent forced a smile. This feeling was anything but pleasant.

Eugene had pulled out all the stops to find Chloe. He’d searched high and low, leaving no stone unturned, but it was like she’d vanished into thin air.
Landon had even hit up the Dark Web, offering a cool hundred million dollars for any info that could lead to her.
Even with that big reward, there were still no leads. Everyone in the underground scene was drooling over that money, but there was just no way to confirm anything.
If they didn’t know Chloe was missing, it’d be easy to think she’d never existed in the first place.
On Robert’s end, the system was as quiet as a mouse. Since he’d installed it in the network, there hadn’t been a single peep, which meant that within the system’s global monitoring range, there was no sign of Chloe anywhere.
“Hey, Robert, is this system of yours for real? Will it give you a heads–up if Chloe shows up

anywhere under surveillance?” Landon eyed the bunch of equipment and voiced his doubts.
Robert shot Landon a dirty look and scoffed. “You doubting me?”
Hearing that, Landon quickly shook his head. “No way! You’re the legendary Caesar. Who’d have the guts?” Landon had found out from Bruce that Robert was the infamous hacker mastermind, and he was totally in awe.
He knew exactly who this guy was. Back when Eugene’s private funds had been hacked, Eugene had been mad as hell for ages, and Landon had worked his butt off trying to track down that notorious hacker.
The legendary Caesar. With skills so mind–blowing, he’d pictured some arrogant middle–aged dude. Never in a million years did he think it’d turn out to be some kid!
Now, if Eugene and Chloe got together, Robert would become Eugene’s stepson. That… was just… crazy.
You couldn’t make up connections like this.
Landon thought Eugene was something else. As amazing as he already was, he somehow ended

with an extra smart kid like this too.
But right now, that wasn’t the main thing. The most important thing was finding Chloe.
“Chloe’s been snatched by someone and cut off from all digital networks. Is she in danger right now?” Landon voiced what was on his mind.
Chloe couldn’t have just disappeared. Even if she wanted to leave Eugene, she wouldn’t ditch Robert. So she had to be held against her will somewhere.
Who was holding her? They had no clue.
The fact that so many people and so many resources couldn’t find a thing meant whoever was behind this was seriously powerful.
Landon glanced over at Eugene, who was sitting there with a dark expression, his anger just below the surface.
