Chapter 577 Permission to Attend
29 Finished
When Chloe heard the news that Charles had passed, her eyes turned cold as she looked at Vincent. “When is the funeral?”
Vincent didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he watched her closely, seeming more interested in the change in her expression.
“In forty–eight hours,” he finally said, pausing briefly. “To be exact, about fortythree hours from now. Quite a bit of time had already passed by the time the news reached us.”
Chloe’s face darkened further. She stared at him, clearly annoyed by his detached tone.
Seeing her irritation, Vincent’s mood lifted noticeably–as if a weight had been lifted.
He gave a light snap of his fingers.
At the signal, two attendants entered, each carrying several items.
Chloe glanced at what they held: a few tastefully wrapped gifts, along with a simple black dress.
She looked back at Vincent, the chill in her gaze unchanged.
“What’s this supposed to mean, Vincent?”
Vincent settled gracefully onto the sofa, crossing his long legs in a confident, almost cocky pose.
“It means I’m going with you to the funeral, of course.”
Chloe stayed silent.
“Charles took good care of you over the years, I’ll give him that. Since you called him Grandpa, in a way he was my grandfather too. Now that he’s gone, we can’t just stand by and do nothing.” Vincent gestured lightly toward the attendants. “These are for you. The gifts are specially chosen. It would put Charles at ease to see you come back.”
Chloe looked over as the attendants stepped closer. The gifts were highend–expensive, some even priceless.
Even the simple black dress was made from finely polished satin.
How extravagant. Is he trying to outdo Eugene with money? How childish.
“Isn’t this what you wanted? Or don’t you like it?” Vincent’s voice pulled her attention back. She realized he had already stood up and moved beside her without her noticing.
She didn’t move, her eyes still fixed on the items. Vincent was saying she could attend the funeral.
After so many days on the island, under what felt like endless gloomy skies, this felt like the clouds parting
-a glimpse of warmth finally breaking through.
She definitely wanted to be there to say goodbye.

Chapter 577 Permission to Attend
Finished
Vincent had erased every trace of her to cut her off from the outside world. Now he was offering her the chance to go back. That meant once she showed up, Eugene, the Myers family, the Lewis family- everyone would know she was back.
“What’s the catch?” Chloe asked flatly. Vincent never did anything without a plan. If he was doing this, he already had his next move figured out.
“What kind of man do you take me for? Do you really think I’d use a funeral to force conditions on you?” Vincent chuckled, then his expression turned serious again. “But now that you mention it… I can personally take you to pay your respects to Charles. I might even give you your freedom back–on one condition.”
Chloe stayed quiet, showing no emotion. She just kept her eyes on him, waiting.
“Stay with me. Be mine.”
Her expression turned to ice. Vincent noticed the shift and added, “My woman, Clo. The strongest presence in Silverash. I want you to go back to who you were–to reclaim your identity.”
That oncemysterious, most skilled figure in Silverash–Clo, the strongest of them all.
The one Vincent had always favored most.

On the day of Charles Myers‘ funeral–founder of Myers Group–many guests arrived, along with reporters who had caught wind of the service.
Arthur personally stepped forward, politely declining interviews and condolences from the press, while also having gift bags prepared for the media folks.
Charles had preferred quiet, so the service was held at the family estate. Aside from invited mourners, all other visitors were respectfully asked not to attend. He hoped everyone would understand.
As the head of the household, Arthur stood near the viewing room dressed in black, greeting each guest who came to pay their respects. Landon, also in black, stood nearby helping with arrangements.
Oralia and Melinda attended as well, accompanied by Blaine.
Melinda wore a sharp black suit–a menswearinspired look that matched her bold presence. As she looked at the portrait displayed in the viewing room, she couldn’t help but think how cruel it was that Charles–so kind and gentle–was gone while Chloe was still nowhere to be found.
