Chapter 584 A Familiar Voice
“Mr. Rosewood…” Frank began, only to be cut off as Arthur stepped forward.
“Eugene, now isn’t the right moment. You shouldn’t-”

Eugene glanced back at him, his tone cool. “Arthur, focus on your own responsibilities. You’re managing the service today. Leave the rest out of it.”
With that, Eugene turned his attention back to the Bingham family. He ignored Noah and Amber completely, his eyes landing squarely on Carl. In fact, he looked past Carl, his intently on the figure standing behind him.

She hadn’t moved an inch since he’d first spoken—no reaction, not even a shift in posture.

“Would you tell me your name?” Eugene spoke again, this time addressing the person beneath the black veil. His voice was softer now, gentler than anything he’d used all day.
Carl’s expression hardened at the question.
Beside him, Noah’s phone screen lit up–he was ready to make a call. People in their line of work didn’t dial just anyone; they called their contacts in official authorities.
“Eugene, today should be about honoring Mr. Myers. Whatever else is on your mind can wait,” Scott interjected, trying to defuse the situation.
“Mr. Lewis, save your breath. Right now, all I care about is seeing this young lady’s face. Everything else comes second.” Eugene never looked away from the veiled figure. Something inside him grew more certain with every passing second.
As Eugene finished speaking, Bruce arrived with several security personnel close behind.
Seeing this, Noah didn’t hesitate. He placed the call and, once connected, gave a quick rundown of the situation.
Noah had reached out to their government liaisons. They were here at Myers Estate on official business, and now they were being obstructed by unidentified individuals. They needed backup.
Everyone overheard Noah reporting the incident as a matter of research security, requesting immediate support. If federal personnel actually showed up, this would stop being about a funeral service altogether.

“Arthur, you know why Chloe chose me and not you?” Eugene said suddenly, his words seeming to come out of nowhere.
Arthur froze, staring at him. From the look in Eugene’s eyes, this wasn’t just a cheap jab–it went deeper.
“What Chloe needed was complete trust. You could never give her that.” Eugene’s voice steadier. “I’ve always believed in her. I still do.”
A simple statement, delivered without a hint of doubt.
Under the black veil, the figure stiffened almost imperceptibly.

Arthur stood there, speechless. The words hit hard–he’d known this truth for a long time, but hearing Eugene say it outright still felt like a blow.
He’d been indecisive, hesitant–never quite the man he should have been.
Chloe had told him as much more than once.
He’d failed her. Eugene wasn’t wrong.
But here, today, at his grandfather’s funeral… this shouldn’t be happening.
Just as Arthur gathered himself to reply, Eugene spoke again, his voice low but clear. “Today, I’m going to see who’s behind that veil.”
Carl let out a cold chuckle. “You don’t give up easy, do you?”
“Even if I offend everyone in this room, it doesn’t matter to me.” Eugene’s eyes never left the person standing behind Carl.
Noah started to step forward, but Carl motioned for him to stay back.
