He Cheated I Rose Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 612

What was she supposed to do?

After turning it over in her head, Chloe decided to stick with the simplest plan—while Nance was out of the picture, she'd try to take the item from him herself.

Nance was a big deal, surrounded by security almost everywhere he went. And this was an official visit. If she messed up trying to lift something from him, it could blow up into a real scandal.

Just as she was wrestling with whether to go through with it, her phone buzzed.

It was a new number—Vincent had gotten it for her, and she'd only given it to Amber. So her first guess was Vincent calling.

But the screen showed Amber's name.

Chloe answered. Before she could speak, Amber's voice came through.

"Claire, before Nance heads to his next stop, he wants to take you to dinner."

Chloe's expression turned sharp.

Nance's invitation couldn't have come at a better time. It handed her the perfect opening.

"Okay," she replied without pause.

"I'll text you the time and place in a bit."

"Got it."

Hanging up, Chloe stared at her phone. Nance asking her to dinner now gave her a real shot. Maybe this was her best chance to get her hands on that pink diamond.

He really had timing down to an art. If she could pull it off tonight, everything after would get a whole lot smoother.

A minute later, Amber's text came through. The dinner was set at an upscale restaurant near where Nance was staying.

She checked the details—a private dining room on the top floor.

Once she'd confirmed everything, Chloe got up right away. If Nance was being this generous with an invite, she needed to get ready before heading over.

At the agreed time, Chloe took a car service to the restaurant.

When the car pulled up to the hotel entrance, a valet stepped forward and opened her door.

Chloe slid out.

"I'll be nearby. Just call when you need a ride back," the driver said shortly, then pulled away without waiting.

Chloe stood watching the taillights fade. Vincent's people worked with her smoothly—they kept questions to a minimum and followed her lead. But of course, they were also Vincent's eyes on her, watching her every move.

She wiped any trace of suspicion from her face, turned, glanced up at the grand building ahead of her, and walked inside.
