He Cheated I Rose Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 625

She deserved to die—a thousand times over.

Carolyn had been hiding out at Myers Estate all along. She certainly knew how to pick a spot.

After Monique left town, Carolyn had vanished. Some reports claimed she'd fled the country. It seemed she no longer had the means to cause trouble, but no one had guessed she'd been lying low right there at the estate.

She never should have let her go that day. But Vincent showed up, and there was no choice—she had to leave them behind.

That decision, indirectly, led to Charles' death.

Chloe felt it was her fault. If none of it had happened... maybe Charles would still be alive.

Her eyes grew warm. She tried to hold back the tears, then felt a gentle squeeze on her hand. She looked up and met Eugene's steady gaze.

"She won't get away," Eugene said quietly. "Don't worry—I'll help you find her. Charles didn't die for nothing."

Chloe nodded silently. "Yeah."

Inside the hotel suite, Vincent stood poised before the floor-to-ceiling window. Outside, the city lights glimmered. Car after car passed the hotel entrance, but the person stepping out was never the one he was waiting for.

His gaze deepened. It was late now, and she still wasn't back.

She'd gone to see Eugene again today, hadn't she?

Even without anyone tailing her or reporting her movements, he knew where she'd been. Where else would she go, if not to that man?

That man—Eugene—had taken her away so easily.

The Chloe he'd raised and sheltered, the gem he'd held in his palm... this man had plucked her right out of his reach.

Vincent's expression darkened, growing increasingly severe.

"Master, we've found something."

A subordinate's voice came from behind. Vincent turned and cast a cold glance toward the man standing at attention.

The aide kept his head lowered, missing the brief shadow of disappointment that crossed Vincent's face.

"Go on. What is it?"

Vincent drifted lazily back to the sofa and sat down. He crossed his legs, the picture of casual elegance, yet an undeniable pressure hung in the air around him.

"Master, we've confirmed Charles' death was connected to a maid working at the estate," the subordinate said, laying a file on the table. "All of her employment records were fabricated. We traced her real identity."

He paused, then added, "It's Carolyn. The woman who's been in hiding."

Carolyn.
