He Cheated I Rose Making Him Regret Everything (Chloe and Arthur) novel Chapter 655

"What did I even have left to live for at this point?" Carolyn muttered, her voice low and hollow. As she took in her surroundings—the dusty, cavernous warehouse, the high metal platform she stood upon—a chilling emptiness settled behind her eyes. "Chloe," she called out, her tone slicing through the quiet. "If you want that boy of yours to keep breathing, get on your knees. Now."

"Carolyn, you can't be seri—" Oralia began, but Chloe cut her off sharply.

"Both of you, stop," Chloe said, her voice steady but strained. She lifted her gaze to meet Carolyn's from below. "Fine. I'll do it."

Without another word, Chloe stepped forward and dropped to her knees on the concrete floor.

Watching Chloe kneel so readily sent a rush of vicious satisfaction through Carolyn's veins.

This was what she wanted—to see this woman broken and humiliated at her feet.

Chloe never should have come back. She should have stayed gone, or better yet, died out there somewhere. Then everything would have stayed the same: the wealth, the luxury, the adoration of fans—all of it would have remained hers. All of it was stolen the moment Chloe returned.

"Now use your own hand," Carolyn said, a smug smirk twisting her lips. "Slap yourself. Hard. Twice. And say, 'I'm a worthless bitch.' And don't you dare hold back—if I think you're going easy, I'll make sure you regret it."

"Carolyn, that's enough," Oralia snapped, striding forward. "I always knew you were capable of nasty things, but this? I'm ashamed I ever shared a stage with you."

"Is that so?" Carolyn chuckled, cold and humorless. "You know what? I changed my mind. I want you on your knees too, slapping that pretty face of yours. Being a big shot means nothing here, Oralia. If you're looking for someone to blame, blame yourself for always taking Chloe's side."

Oralia stood frozen, staring at Carolyn's gloating expression. There was no reaching her—she was too far gone.

"Made your choice? I want both of you on your knees," Carolyn taunted, her thumb hovering over the remote in her hand.

She pressed a button.

With a sharp metallic rattle, the chain holding Robert suddenly went slack.

The boy's small body plummeted several feet before jerking to a stop mid-air. Oralia screamed.

"I'll do it! I'll kneel!"

Trembling, Oralia dropped to the ground with a heavy thud.

"I'm the bad one—I'm whatever you want me to be!" she cried out, then struck herself hard across the face, once, twice. She looked up, tears streaking her makeup. "Carolyn, please... let him go. I'm begging you."

Carolyn watched, her eyes gleaming with something wild and unhinged.
