He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 100

Seraphina killed the engine, watching blearily as a dozen medical professionals burst out of the hospital's sliding glass doors.

They were sprinting toward her with a gurney, their hands full of trauma gear.

Her vision was failing, the edges of the world turning blurry.

Complete darkness rapidly eclipsed her sight.

She knew she had officially reached her limit.

Summoning every last ounce of her strength, she unlocked the car doors. Then, she slipped into the void.

...

When she finally drifted back to consciousness, she found Lana sleeping with her head resting on the edge of the bed.

Feeling her stir, Lana practically shot upright. "Dr. Somerset! You're awake! You scared me half to death! I'll go get the team—"

Before Seraphina could even string together a sentence, her bedside was swarmed by a flurry of doctors and nurses in scrubs.

Silas was the fastest. He barged into the room, instantly grabbing her hand. His eyes were completely bloodshot, and he practically vibrated with anxious energy. "Seraphina, are you okay? How do you feel?"

Seraphina parted her lips, but her throat felt as dry and abrasive as sandpaper.

"You just got out of surgery, you can't drink anything yet," Silas instructed gently. "Lana, grab some swabs and water. Wet Dr. Somerset's lips."

"Right away," Lana agreed, darting off.

The surrounding medical staff sprang into action.

Some meticulously logged the readouts on her monitors, while others swapped out her IV bags.

Silas knelt halfway to the floor beside her bed, pressing the back of her hand against his forehead in evident agony. "How could this happen again? It's been three years. Don't these people ever learn? They all know abducting you won't wring a single dime out of Pierce, so why do they keep hurting you?"

Seraphina's mind was still tangled in a thick fog.

She could feel a heavy dressing wrapped securely around her neck. Her wrists were ringed in dark, bruised purple, swollen to twice their normal size—a grotesque sight against her luminous skin.
