He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 99

With that final declaration, she turned away, pulled open the driver's door, and agonizingly dragged herself into the seat.

Just as she was about to pull the door shut, a pair of large hands gripped the handle from the outside.

"Fine," Pierce gritted out. "If you refuse to ride with me, so be it. But you're a terrible driver. You've barely touched a steering wheel since freshman year. This position is way too dangerous. Get out, let me back it up to a safe spot, and then you can drive..."

Seraphina looked at him, let out a hollow, mocking laugh, shoved his hands away, and slammed the door shut.

Her right hand swiftly slammed the gear into reverse, and she stepped hard on the gas the exact moment the engine roared to life.

The tires screamed against the dirt. Riding on sheer luck and the last bit of traction, the car shot back fifteen feet, safely clearing the edge of the drop.

Because of the sudden shift in weight, the loose earth that had just been supporting the front tires gave way completely. It crumbled over the precipice, echoing off the rocks as it plunged into the inky depths below.

It all happened so fast. A single miscalculation, and she would have plummeted over the cliff along with the vehicle.

But her timing and control were utterly flawless. This wasn't dumb luck; it was a maneuver only a seasoned driver could pull off.

Pierce stared at the scene, refusing to believe his own eyes.

Her driving skills weren't just bad—they were practically non-existent.

Earning her license back then had been a monumental struggle.

She was a brilliant student, acing the written exam without breaking a sweat, but it took her five grueling attempts to pass the practical test.

During that entire ordeal, Pierce had patiently accompanied her to practice sessions over and over again, practically serving as her personal driving instructor.

But everyone had a blind spot. Seraphina was a genius in academia, yet behind the wheel, she was a complete disaster.

After two months of agonizing lessons, Pierce had finally sighed in defeat. "Whatever, if you don't get the license, you don't get it. You've got a dedicated chauffeur anyway. Wherever my lady wants to go, I'm at your service."

She had been so touched by his words that she threw her arms around him and planted a kiss on his cheek.

But it lasted all of one second.

Instantly reverting to her relentless, stubborn self, she had declared, "I refuse to accept this! I can master the most complex lab experiments, but I can't handle a tiny car?"

As it turned out, despite finally clawing her way to a license, she had never actually driven on a real road.
