He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 104

Pierce sounded utterly out of patience. "Do you need anything else? If not, I'm hanging up."

"I... no, nothing else."

"Alright. Goodbye."

"Pierce, when are you coming back to the estate? You've been gone for days and haven't answered any calls. Your grandfather is furious. I've been trying to smooth things over by telling him you're away on a business trip, but lying to an old man makes me feel so guilty..."

Pierce's tone softened slightly. "Thank you, Lyra. But you don't need to cover for me anymore. Just tell him I don't have the time to visit right now and I'll deal with it when I'm less busy."

"But..."

"That's all for now. The hospital isn't the place for a long conversation. I'm hanging up."

Beep. Beep. Beep.

The call ended, leaving only the dial tone in her ear.

A look of absolute venom flashed across Lyra's face. She snatched up a potted plant from her office balcony and hurled it down furiously.

The pot smashed onto the first-floor pavement with a loud shatter.

Almost instantly, someone below started screaming, "What kind of psycho throws things from up there?! People walk here! What if you hit someone?! Have you no decency?!"

Lyra quickly shrank back from the window and stood in the middle of her office, completely silent.

"Dr... Dr. Langley."
