He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 106

The nurse's name was Cassie. She was the most experienced nurse in the Cardiology department—sharp, quick on her feet, highly emotionally intelligent, and completely capable of holding her own in a crisis.

Seraphina had mentioned her several times in the past, praising her outstanding work ethic and expressing a desire to advocate for her to get a raise.

After Seraphina's departure, those plans had inevitably been sidelined.

Spotting the dean's subtle signal, Nurse Cassie took two steps back and slipped out of the hospital room.

The dean led her a short distance away, his brow deeply furrowed as he lowered his voice. "A patient dying in our hospital means we owe the family a proper explanation. Tell me exactly what happened today, from start to finish. Do not omit a single detail."

Nurse Cassie recounted everything factually.

As he listened, the dean's face turned completely ashen. "Are you telling me she didn't even know what an ECMO machine was?"

Nurse Cassie gave a reluctant, heavy nod. "There were rumors that she was placed here by Mr. Prescott and that she forced Dr. Somerset out to steal her research paper. But considering Mr. Prescott donated a massive amount of cutting-edge equipment to our hospital, none of us felt we could speak up. But what happened today... If the family decides to pursue this, our hospital is going to be held liable."

The dean slapped his forehead in sheer agony. "How could it be this absurd? I assumed she at least possessed basic medical knowledge! I thought as long as we kept her out of the operating room, it would be fine. How could this happen..."

"I already called Dr. Wallace," Nurse Cassie added softly. "He should be here any minute."

Right on cue, Dr. Wallace burst out of the elevator, moving at a frantic pace and drenched in sweat.

"How is the patient?"

Nurse Cassie mournfully shook her head.

This was Dr. Wallace's patient, and the loss hit him hard. "Isn't there an on-call physician for Cardiology today? How did this happen?"

The dean let out a heavy sigh and patted the doctor's shoulder. "Go check on the patient first. You're the expert here."

"Right. I'll go right now."
