He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 108

He didn't walk far, stopping just outside the hospital room door.

"Felix?"

"Mr. Prescott, you finally answered! Dean Caldwell from Metropolitan General just called. He said there was a serious incident regarding Ms. Langley and requested that you come in immediately to discuss it."

Pierce felt a surge of sharp disappointment.

He lowered his voice. "Is that the only reason you called? What about what I asked you to investigate?"

"I'm still digging into that," Felix explained. "Dean Caldwell said no one was answering your phone, but it's an urgent matter that requires your immediate attention. As for Ms. Langley... there seems to have been a fatal case of medical malpractice."

Pierce's brow furrowed tightly. "Fatal? What exactly happened?"

"The Dean said he needs to explain the specifics in person. But based on his tone, it sounds like Ms. Langley is directly responsible."

Right now, Pierce's mind was entirely consumed by the image of Seraphina's silent tears. He had zero capacity to deal with anything else. "Go down there and find out what happened. Even with her accelerated medical degree, Lyra still went through a graduate medical program. See if there are other factors involved."

"Understood. I'll head over right now."

"And regarding what I asked you to look into," Pierce reminded him sternly, "get back to me as soon as possible."

"Yes, Mr. Prescott. The moment I have an update, I'll contact you."

"Alright."

Before he even finished speaking, Pierce caught sight of two unwelcome guests stepping out of the elevator.

Franklin was storming down the hallway, dragging his sister behind him.

The police hadn't needed much time to unravel last night's case.

The skinny abductor had marched straight to the precinct after descending the mountain and confessed to everything.
