He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 11

That afternoon, the director dropped by. In front of the entire department, he formally introduced Lyra.

Lana muttered quietly in Seraphina's ear, "Which rich family's spoiled daughter is this? Couldn't her parents just stuff her into a cushy job at the tax bureau or a bank? Barely any work, tons of money. Why did she have to force her way into medicine?"

No one knew what had changed in recent years. Rich kids used to just spend their time shopping and chasing celebrities, but now, they were all desperately "ambitious," forcefully inserting themselves into serious professions.

Especially hospitals—places where life and death were decided in an instant.

Seraphina said, "We can't change reality. We just have to accept it."

Lana was still young and fiery. "I just can't stand it. A 28-year-old Chief Physician? Does that make any sense?"

Seraphina let out a soft laugh.

With Pierce backing her, what didn't make sense?

If he wanted to, he could fund an entire hospital and make Lyra the director.

That very afternoon, Seraphina went straight to the director's office.

Looking at the transfer request she handed him, the director sighed knowingly. "Is this because of Dr. Langley?"

Between her first authorship being stolen and Lyra being parachuted in as her direct boss, the director knew Seraphina had been deeply wronged.

Even though Seraphina had only worked at Metropolitan General Hospital for three years, rarely spoke, and barely smiled, her clinical and research skills were undeniable. The director really didn't want to let her go.

But Seraphina reasoned, "The State Medical Center is surrounded by several nursing homes. The rates of cardiovascular diseases among the elderly have spiked in recent years, and they are desperately short on cardiologists."

The director was well aware of this fact. He sighed, trying to soothe her. "Dr. Somerset, I understand how you feel. But as doctors, we save lives wherever we are. You don't necessarily have to go to the State Medical Center! Besides, it's on the complete opposite side of town. Your one-way commute would be nearly two hours. Don't make decisions out of spite!"
