He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 15

With that, she turned her back to him, closed her eyes, and went back to sleep. A long time passed before she finally heard Pierce sigh softly. "Suit yourself."

Perhaps because of the illness, Seraphina slept straight until late morning.

When she woke up, she was still running a low-grade fever, and her throat was so dry it felt like it was on fire.

She unconsciously muttered, "Pierce, I need water."

But the moment the words left her mouth, she instantly sobered up.

This wasn't the honeymoon phase anymore. No one was going to drag themselves out of bed in the middle of the night just to fetch her water because she mumbled a single sentence.

She threw on a jacket and headed downstairs, intending to boil some water in the kitchen. But as she reached the bottom of the stairs, she saw people in the living room.

Pierce's buddies were over.

She quickly pulled her jacket tighter around her collar.

"...Why is she still here?" Quinton Quinn looked incredibly annoyed. "How does she have the nerve to keep living here? Talk about thick-skinned."

Franklin Foster pushed up his gold-rimmed glasses, his eyes narrowing. "Well, they were married. If she's dead set on staying, Pierce can hardly have someone drag her out by force, can he?"

"Why not? If Pierce can't do it, I will."

Lyra was there too. She was wearing a burgundy slip dress, her hair casually clipped back with a claw clip, looking effortlessly elegant and relaxed.

She brought out an intricate coffee set, smiling as she offered it to them. "Pierce and I moved back in such a rush, we don't have any proper good coffee yet. This will have to do for now."

Quinton quickly stood up to take the tray from her hands, his tone softening dramatically. "That's heavy. You should've called me, I would've carried it for you."

Lyra offered a gentle, warm smile, tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear. "It's fine. I'm not that fragile."

Quinton placed the set on the table and began pouring the coffee for everyone.
