He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 17

In the guest room.

Seraphina had already sorted and categorized everything she needed to pack.

The furniture here was custom-designed for their wedding by a designer Pierce had hired. The entire house was bespoke; she couldn't take it, nor did she want to.

She didn't have many clothes. They had been packed away in a suitcase leaning against the wall for a long time. Ready to be taken at a moment's notice.

The most troublesome items were three heavy boxes of books. Medical studies required endless reading and reference materials, many of which were rare editions she had specially imported from overseas.

Seraphina turned to the young man. "It's just these three boxes. That's all I need moved."

The young man, Marcus Miller, rolled up his sleeves and got to work. "That's easy. When I saw the address was in this luxury neighborhood, I figured there'd be a ton of stuff."

Nothing in this house truly belonged to her. Not even the man.

As Marcus hoisted a box, he caught sight of a framed wedding photo tossed in the corner like garbage. "Should I take this too?"

"No need," Seraphina replied.

Marcus was incredibly fit; he managed to stack all three heavy boxes and carry them in one go. But he encountered a roadblock at the door.

"Excuse me, please step aside."

Pierce didn't move. He stared at the moving guy for a moment before shifting his predatory gaze to Seraphina. "What are you doing?"

"Moving," Seraphina said. "Don't worry, I haven't taken a single thread from the Prescott estate. These boxes just have my books."

Pierce sneered. "Haven't taken a thing? The bed you sleep on, the roof over your head, the appliances you use—which one of them doesn't belong to my family?"

Seraphina met his eyes directly. "Then tally it up. Send me the bill and I'll transfer the money to you. Now, please move. He's carrying heavy boxes."
