He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 18

Lyra put on a tearful, devastated expression. "Seraphina, I had no idea the experiment was that difficult. If I had known, I never would have forced you to give it up."

"Well, you know now. Are you willing to give the first-author credit back?"

"I..."

"Drop the innocent act. I let you off too easy back in school. I should have let you experience what it feels like to have your reputation destroyed by vicious rumors."

The argument upstairs eventually drew Franklin and Quinton from the living room.

Seeing Seraphina pointing her finger right at Lyra's face, Quinton lost his temper. He charged forward, pulling Lyra behind him, and raised his hand to strike.

Seraphina was faster. She swung hard, slapping Pierce squarely across the face.

Smack!

Pierce's head whipped to the side.

Quinton was completely stunned, his hand frozen mid-air, the blow never landing.

Seraphina spoke with a voice like ice. "Pierce Prescott, keep your woman and your buddy on a leash. I'm willing to walk away with nothing right now, but if these two pests keep bothering me, I'll skin you alive before I ever sign those divorce papers!"

Bang!

The guest room door slammed shut violently, practically grazing the tip of Pierce's nose.

Lyra jumped in fright, quickly stepping up on her tiptoes to check on him. "Pierce, are you okay? Let me see..."

Frowning, Pierce pushed her away. "I'm fine."

Quinton pointed at the closed door, shouting in disbelief. "How... how did she turn into this?"

He had never really liked Seraphina. Perhaps because of her family situation, she had always been quiet, keeping everyone at a distance. Because she was beautiful and got top grades, her classmates had nicknamed her the Ice Queen.
