"Awesome! Thank you, Ms. Somerset!"
Marcus happily scooped up their wedding portrait and practically skipped down the stairs.
Seraphina picked up her suitcase, preparing to follow.
Suddenly, the weight in her hand vanished. Pierce had snatched the suitcase from her grip.
Seraphina glared at him. "Those are my clothes inside. Everything I bought myself. I left all the designer stuff you gave me in the closet. I'm not taking a single piece!"
Pierce set the suitcase aside, staring at her for several long seconds before raising his eyes. "You're really moving out?"
Seraphina met his gaze without flinching. "Yes."
"Stop throwing a tantrum. I don't have time for these childish games," Pierce frowned, his tone dripping with impatience. "You're wasting the moving guy's time."
Seraphina let out a humorless laugh. "Do you seriously think me moving out is just some ploy to get your attention?"
Pierce scoffed. "Isn't it? With your salary, can you really afford to live in a hotel long-term? Or are you planning to sleep on the floor of your office at the hospital? Where else can you possibly go?"
Seraphina took a deep breath. Her abdomen, where the surgical wound was still healing, throbbed with a dull ache.
"Pierce Prescott, the biggest regret of my life was guarding this empty house, waiting for you to come back."
She shoved him hard, grabbed her suitcase, and made for the stairs.
But he caught her wrist.
Seraphina yanked her arm away mercilessly. "What do you want?!"
Pierce's voice grew dark and chilling. "I'll give you one last chance to think this through. If you walk out that door today, don't ever think about coming back."
Seraphina scoffed. "Don't worry about that. I'd rather die in the streets. Move!"
Pierce didn't budge. He thought for a few seconds, then forcefully took the suitcase back from her.
"I'll carry it down for you."
He turned and walked down the stairs.
