He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 187

At the police station.

Seraphina sat upright in the chair, her back entirely unbothered by the backrest, her posture stiff and rigid.

Ever since she walked in, her lips had been pressed into a tight line, barely saying a word.

Sitting across from her were a male and female officer.

The male officer tried to soften his tone. "Ms. Somerset, don't be afraid. We're just asking a few routine questions to get your statement."

"I'm not afraid," Seraphina replied flatly. "Ask whatever you need to."

The female officer stared at her for a long moment, a look of confusion lingering in her eyes, until it finally clicked. "You're Mrs. Prescott!"

The male officer looked at his partner in surprise. "You know her?"

The female officer let out a heavy sigh. "It's hard not to. You just transferred here, so you probably don't know, but Mrs. Prescott has been a regular at our station for the past three years."

The male officer suddenly turned serious. "Does she have a record?"

"No, she's been the victim of multiple kidnapping and assault cases. I'm the one who escorted her to the hospital for medical examinations half the time."

"Multiple? How many exactly?"

The female officer thought for a moment before shaking her head in sheer frustration. "Too many. I've lost count."

"Just because she's married to a Prescott? What is wrong with people these days? Do they really think rich people's money is that easy to extort? Or do they think we cops are just sitting around doing nothing?"

The female officer grumbled, "We obviously aren't sitting around; we catch the suspects quickly every time. And those people aren't always in it for the money. Sometimes it's just... pure vengeance."

The male officer looked slightly confused. "Did she piss someone off?"

"She didn't. Her husband did." The female officer sounded suddenly displeased. "The CEO of Prescott Holdings—the guy who came in with her today. I don't understand the grudges of the ultra-rich, but she... she's really pitiful. Anyway, never mind all that. Let's get to work."
