He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 22

"Right away!"

Lana dashed out in a panic, leaving Seraphina to meet Lyra's gaze.

Just moments ago, Lyra had looked ready to murder someone, but her expression instantly morphed into one of gentle elegance. "Seraphina, did you hurt your hand moving your things this morning? Is it serious?"

Seraphina fired back without missing a beat. "It's nothing serious. Sorry to disappoint you."

"I didn't mean it like that. Why do you always assume the worst of me?"

"Then what did you mean? Are we really close enough for you to care?"

"We're old friends, after all..."

"Don't call us friends. I'm allergic to the word."

Seraphina picked up her water glass from her desk and walked over to the water dispenser.

Before she could take a step, the cup was snatched from her hand.

Pierce filled it with warm water, then opened a small bag he had brought with him, pulling out several boxes of medication. Some were powders, others were capsules.

He popped out a capsule and handed it to her. "You still had a fever when you left this morning. Take this."

Seraphina glanced at it. It was indeed a fever reducer.

"And this," Pierce said, tearing open a packet of cold medicine and mixing it into her cup. "Drink it."

Seraphina eyed him warily. "Why are you really here?"

It couldn't possibly be just to make sure she took her medication.

Pierce gave a self-deprecating smirk, his expression turning somewhat cynical.

Lyra walked over, her voice soft and sweet. "Seraphina, this is actually my fault. My immune system is terrible. Back in the UK, if anyone around me caught a cold, I was guaranteed to get sick, and it would take forever to recover. Since we share an office now, Pierce is just worried you might pass your cold to me."

Ah, so that was it. She had almost believed the sun rose in the west today.

Lyra murmured softly, "But of course, he wants you to get better quickly too."

Pierce didn't deny it. He simply took a sip from the cup himself, then handed it to her. "The temperature is fine. Take your medicine."
