He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 23

Saturday was Seraphina's day off. She spent the morning touring three different apartments before finally settling on one close to State Medical Center.

It was a one-bedroom, one-bathroom layout, roughly 600 square feet.

The landlords were a young couple who had relocated overseas for work, leaving the property with a real estate agent.

Because the renovations were high-end, the rent was on the pricier side, costing her over $1,500 a month.

But it came fully furnished with appliances, which was exactly what Seraphina needed. She had to report to State Medical on Monday and had zero time to decorate a new place. A move-in-ready apartment was the most practical choice.

Saturday afternoon, she gave the new apartment a deep clean.

Looking at her spotless, bright new home, Seraphina felt her mood begin to lift.

Her phone rang while she was hanging the last of her modest wardrobe in the closet.

Seeing the caller ID, she picked up. "Silas?"

"Hey," Silas Sterling said. "Do you have time for dinner? There's been a development regarding that incident."

Hearing the second half of his sentence, Seraphina's expression dimmed slightly. "Sure."

"Are you at home? I'll come pick you up."

"I... moved. Just send me the location, I'll take a cab there."

Silas paused. "Did Pierce kick you out?"

Seraphina let out a humorless laugh. "He brought his new woman home. Wouldn't I be totally oblivious if I stayed?"

Silas was silent for a few seconds before saying, "Send me your new address."

Fifteen minutes later, Seraphina headed downstairs.

Silas was already waiting outside. Seeing her, he stepped out and opened the passenger door.

Seraphina smiled softly, pushed the passenger door closed, and climbed into the back seat instead.

Silas understood what she meant.

Even though their relationship was purely platonic, Seraphina was always fiercely protective of boundaries.

Once inside, she didn't want Silas to overthink it, so she explained, "I'm just looking out for your reputation. If some girl likes you and misunderstands our relationship, I'd be ruining your dating life."

Silas didn't push the issue and started the engine.
