He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 32

"And if I sue you, do you really think you can afford to pay?"

Seraphina let out a light laugh. "Not necessarily. I had my phone recording the moment I walked in. Every word we've said today is on tape. As the cheating party, you'll be awarded far less than half during the asset division. The amount I walk away with might just be enough to cover the damages."

Pierce narrowed his eyes. "Seraphina, I did not cheat."

"You just claimed Lyra is 'with you.' The recording caught it loud and clear."

A storm brewed in Pierce's eyes.

He stared at her coldly, as if trying to pierce through her gaze and read her very thoughts.

Seraphina met his stare without flinching.

She wasn't some naive, self-righteous woman who would walk away from a divorce empty-handed.

She had been by his side from the early days of his startup to his ultimate success. She had even sacrificed her own dreams, enrolling in medical school just to be closer to home for him.

All it took was one word from him, and she had abandoned the prestige and better pay of State Medical Center, opting for Metropolitan General simply because it was a shorter commute.

For this marriage, she had compromised, accommodated, gone mad, and felt utterly helpless.

She had wandered this empty villa like a lonely ghost for three long years.

So now that they were splitting up, why shouldn't she take what was rightfully hers?

Lyra's face went pale. "Seraphina, you've changed. You're not like you used to be."

Seraphina replied, "You certainly haven't changed. You love putting on an act just as much as you did back then."

Lyra bit her lip, tears welling in her eyes. "Do you really have to be so aggressive?"

"I'm not forcing your hand, I'm forcing his." Seraphina turned her attention back. "If Mr. Prescott has no objections, then it's settled. Once I amend the divorce agreement, I'll mail it to your office. Just sign it and bring it on Wednesday when we finalize things. Let's go, Sienna."

Seraphina grabbed her sister's hand and marched out of the villa.

They hadn't taken more than a few steps before Silas came hurrying toward them.

"Silas, what are you doing here? I thought you were waiting outside."
