He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 47

By the time Seraphina settled the baby in the bedroom and came out, Caspian was smoking.

"Friendly reminder. With a baby in the house, it's best not to smoke indoors."

Caspian glanced at her. He held the cigarette still for a moment, scoffed, but crushed it out in the ashtray anyway.

He pointed to the opposite sofa. "Have a seat. Let's talk."

Seraphina figured that since things had reached this point, it was best to clear the air.

She spoke softly. "I have nothing to do with Pierce anymore. Whatever grudge you have against him is between the two of you, so talking to me is useless. Besides, I triggered an SOS alert earlier. If I don't cancel it within thirty minutes, the police will be notified and they'll come straight here. You won't get away."

Caspian let out a cold laugh. "If Pierce doesn't even care about you, why would I bother killing you?"

"Then I guess we have nothing left to talk about."

"I know talking to you won't change anything. You almost died tonight, and Pierce is out shopping for baby supplies with another woman. That tells me you've lost all your value to him."

Hearing the first half of his sentence, Seraphina felt numb.

Over the years, she had endured countless injuries, threats, and scares. Several times, she had been pushed to the absolute brink of a mental breakdown.

Yet Pierce remained unreachable the entire time.

He couldn't care less if she lived or died. Seraphina had accepted that truth long ago.

But buying baby supplies with Lyra Langley?

...Was Lyra pregnant?

No wonder he had chased her down at the hospital that day, forcing her to take cold medicine.

He was just terrified she would pass her virus onto his pregnant lover.

Caspian chuckled. "Judging by that look on your face, you didn't know he had another woman on the side?"

"I knew," Seraphina replied, still masking her emotions flawlessly. "I just didn't know she was pregnant."

Caspian's gaze suddenly softened with a trace of pity. "You must have been through hell being married to him."

Those words pierced Seraphina's heart like a jagged thorn.
