Felicity looked taken aback. "Your period?"
"Yeah. Your brother is still single, isn't he? It wouldn't be appropriate for me to accidentally bleed on his seats."
Felicity scratched her head in sheer exasperation. "I thought you were severely injured or something. So it's just your period..."
Lyra smoothly continued, "Felicity, since we're right in front of a pharmacy, could you do me a huge favor? Could you run in and buy me some pads, painkillers, and something for the cramps?"
Franklin intervened. "You stay here and keep her company, Felicity. I'll go buy them."
He quickly walked into the pharmacy, grabbed everything Lyra had asked for, and handed the bag over upon returning. "Here you go, Lyra."
Lyra accepted the bag. "Thank you, Franklin. I'm so sorry about all this. I wasn't going to say anything since it's a bit of an embarrassing subject, but Felicity wouldn't stop asking, so I had to confess. I must look ridiculous right now."
Franklin offered a tight, humorless smile. "So this was the big secret 'outsiders shouldn't know' that you were talking about earlier."
Lyra looked slightly awkward. "Yes, exactly."
"You didn't plan on telling me, but you were completely fine telling Pierce?" Franklin narrowed his eyes. "I'm a single guy, sure. But Pierce has a wife. Isn't that infinitely more inappropriate?"
Lyra hadn't expected him to suddenly corner her with such a sharp observation. The atmosphere instantly shifted, turning thick with tension.
She forced out a dry laugh. "Well, I've been staying at Pierce's house lately. It's not exactly something I could hide from him."
"What's there to hide? Felicity and I live in the exact same house, and I never have a clue when it's her time of the month."
Felicity nodded eagerly in agreement. "Yeah, Lyra! It's super easy to hide even if you live together. Plus, Pierce's house has, like, a dozen bathrooms. As long as you throw your pads away right away, he'd never even notice."
Lyra finally lost her composure. "Felicity, you..."
Franklin watched the entire exchange with immense amusement. His sister might be incredibly dense, but her sheer stupidity was surprisingly useful.
Right then, his phone rang.
