He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 63

The two men took the elevator down together. Pierce headed to the obstetrics and gynecology department on the second floor, while Franklin went straight to the ground floor, stopping at a convenience store outside the hospital to grab some sandwiches and snacks.

At the checkout counter, he grabbed a steaming cup of hot chocolate and a few rock-hard tubs of ice cream.

"Hi, I'd like to pay for these as well."

"Right away, sir."

"Could you put the hot drink and the ice cream in separate insulated bags for me, please?"

...

Seraphina slept for about fifteen minutes.

Then she woke up with a violent start.

There was a profusely bleeding man, an infant, and a paralyzed elderly patient waiting for her back at the villa.

She had gone out solely to buy rubbing alcohol and bandages to stitch up Caspian!

Thanks to Felicity's insane ambush, she had completely lost track of time. She had no idea what condition he was in right now.

Seraphina didn't have Caspian's number saved, so she frantically scrolled through her call logs and dialed his number.

It rang endlessly, but no one picked up.

When she tried calling back, it went straight to voicemail. The phone was dead.

Seraphina felt a cold spike of panic in her chest.

Had the loan sharks come back?

Or had Caspian passed out from massive blood loss?

And what about the baby?

Seraphina leaped out of her chair.

Lana, who had been dozing off on the desk beside her, jolted awake. "What's wrong, Dr. Somerset?"

Seraphina's expression was deathly serious. "Lana, I have to go."

"But what about your arms? Are you okay to move? You should call State Medical Center and request a few days off. You can't perform surgery with injuries like that."

With Caspian's life hanging in the balance, Seraphina looked grim.

She didn't exactly care if Caspian lived or died.
