He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 64

Pierce would simply throw an arm around her shoulder and proudly declare, "It's only being whipped if it's the wrong person. With the right one, it's just called being happy."

Quinton and the rest of the guys would dramatically groan, rubbing their arms and pretending to shiver from the sheer cringe of it all.

Franklin was the only outlier. He had always been quiet, steady, and entirely emotionally stable.

Occasionally, he would drop a completely deadpan joke that would leave everyone else completely speechless.

Seraphina's deepest memory of Franklin was from the night Pierce declared himself happily whipped. While everyone else was gagging at the romance, the usually stoic and brooding Franklin quietly downed an entire bottle of liquor by himself.

Later on, Pierce told her that Franklin had never had a girlfriend, so the romantic display must have hit a sore spot for the perpetual single guy.

Seraphina had been half-skeptical.

The Foster family was one of the most prominent names in the city. Franklin might have had a freezing personality, but he was incredibly handsome. There was absolutely no way he was entirely devoid of romantic prospects.

But since she barely knew him and wasn't the type to pry into other people's private lives, she had just let it go.

Seraphina stared at him now. "I don't need your charity. Go back and tell Pierce to make sure he shows up on Wednesday to sign the divorce papers. Other than that, I never want to see his face again."

Franklin nodded slowly. "As long as you haven't changed your mind."

"I'm not going to change my mind. This marriage is over."

"Alright. Remember you said that today, Seraphina."

He shoved the bags into Lana's arms, his tone dropping into a serious register. "I brought the stuff. Whether you use it or not is up to you, but don't gamble with your career over petty pride."

After Franklin walked away, Lana opened the bags.

The hot chocolate was still scalding hot, and the tubs of ice cream were rock solid.

Lana urged her gently, "Dr. Somerset, who cares who sent this stuff? Your injuries are the only thing that matters right now. Let me put some ice on those elbows."

Seraphina hesitated for a second before nodding. "Give them to me. I'll ice my arms in the cab."

There was no point in acting high and mighty right now. She owed Pierce a fortune anyway, and this convenience store junk barely cost a few dollars.

In the end, her surgical career was the most important thing she had left.
