The agonizing burn of the antiseptic jolted Caspian into a brief moment of clarity.
When he realized he was lying there entirely exposed from the waist down, with a woman leaning directly over his inner thigh, he absolutely lost his mind.
Using whatever ounce of strength he had left, he jerked backward. "What... what the hell are you doing?! You're a woman! Have you no shame?!"
Seraphina was already on the verge of collapsing from pure exhaustion.
Her elbows were screaming in agony, but she had forced herself to stay awake, fighting through the pain to stitch his gaping wound shut. And now, the second he moved, the freshly stitched flesh split open and began hemorrhaging blood all over again.
Seraphina snapped. She slapped her hand violently onto his thigh right next to the wound.
"AHHH!"
Caspian writhed on the floor in excruciating pain.
Seraphina roared at him, "Stop moving! Lay flat!"
Caspian cursed at the top of his lungs. "You're just trying to finish the job while I'm helpless, aren't you?! Fine! I admit I tried to get you killed! If you want me dead, just kill me! Why the hell are you humiliating me like this?!"
"Humiliating you?!"
Smack—
Seraphina raised her hand and slapped him hard across the face.
Caspian's head whipped to the side, the sharp, cracking sound echoing through the empty room.
Smack—
She slapped him again.
Seraphina pointed a furious finger right in his face. "Who the hell do you think you are? God's gift to women?! If I was that desperate, I could easily go to a club and pick up a gorgeous guy! I wouldn't need to resort to you!"
Caspian's head was ringing so hard he was seeing stars.
He turned his head, spitting out a mouthful of bloody saliva, and sneered through his teeth. "Your husband abandoned you. You've been sleeping in an empty bed for three solid years. How the hell am I supposed to know if you've lost your mind from pure desperation..."
Smack— Smack—
Seraphina slapped him twice more, hitting him harder with every swing. "Watch your damn mouth!"
