She frowned and scolded him. "Please behave yourself! If you do that again, I'm calling security."
Pierce looked defeated. "Fine, I won't move. You shouldn't move either, watch your arm."
"If you have no medical issues, please leave. There are other patients waiting outside."
Pierce stubbornly insisted, "I won't get in the way of your work. I'll wait outside until your shift is over."
"I have nothing to say to you, and I don't want to hear whatever excuses you have," Seraphina said coldly. "I've taken tomorrow off. We will meet straight at City Hall to file the divorce papers."
"If you don't hear me out, I won't show up tomorrow."
Seraphina finally looked at him, her eyes blazing with anger. "Is this a game to you? You agreed to the divorce. Is the great Pierce Prescott going back on his word? Where is your credibility?"
"Alaric's debts have nothing to do with me," he said. "I didn't steal his clients. He offended them, they terminated his contracts, and then they chose to work with Prescott Enterprises."
Seraphina had already suspected as much. Alaric had treated her well in the past. Having lived with him and Elara for six years, he had been a father figure to her. She had instinctively avoided thinking the worst of him, but logic demanded she face the truth.
"Alaric has a mistress. She's a nineteen-year-old college student, even younger than Sienna. And... she's pregnant."
Seraphina was stunned. She had guessed part of the truth, but this revelation was explosive.
"So when he claimed he was in debt, he was actually transferring all his marital assets to this college student?"
Pierce stood up. "I'll be waiting outside. We can talk about the details when you're off the clock."
He did it on purpose—dropping half the bombshell to force her to meet with him later.
