He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 79

Seraphina had fully intended to call a cab.

But Silas saw how terrible she looked and insisted on driving her.

Too exhausted to argue, she agreed, but stubbornly climbed into the back seat, refusing the passenger side.

Choosing a seat in a car was a subtle social dance.

Sitting in the passenger seat implied being the woman of the house—highly inappropriate.

Sitting in the back made it look like she was treating him as her chauffeur—also inappropriate.

Still, they had been friends for years. Treating him like an Uber driver just this once wouldn't kill him, right?

Glancing at the rearview mirror, Silas saw her sitting stiffly in the back, overthinking the whole ordeal. He easily guessed the source of her internal crisis.

"...I don't have a girlfriend, Seraphina. You don't have to be so ridiculously formal."

Seraphina massaged her throbbing temples. "The back seat has more legroom."

Silas knew she had strict boundaries when it came to men, so he didn't push the issue.

"Just take a nap. I'll wake you when we get there."

Seraphina waved him off, sitting up straighter. "Silas, just drop me off at the intersection down the road. I... have some errands to run."

Silas frowned in concern. "Does it have to be tonight?"

"The sooner the better."

"What is it? I'll come with you."

"It's fine. It's family drama, you wouldn't be able to help."

Silas spoke softly, "You never know. Tell me what's going on, maybe I have a solution."

Seraphina thought for a moment. "Do you know any good lawyers?"

"I have a few friends in corporate and family law. Why?" Remembering Pierce's explosive accusations, Silas asked cautiously, "Is this about... the child?"

Realizing his misunderstanding, Seraphina froze for a second.
