Silas's smile remained perfectly polite, though a faint trace of loneliness lingered in his eyes.
"We're colleagues now, after all," Silas said.
He had intentionally left some room for interpretation.
They were indeed colleagues for now.
But what about the future?
Things were incredibly tense between Seraphina and Pierce right now, and she seemed absolutely determined to get a divorce. Whatever their relationship might become later was a matter for the future.
Elara studied Silas intently for a moment before offering a light smile. "I see. Thank you for taking the trouble to bring Seraphina home today, Mr. Sterling. I'm sure you have your own matters to attend to, so please don't let us hold you up. Seraphina and I have some things to discuss."
Silas glanced at Seraphina's pale complexion, still clearly worried.
"Elara is right, Silas," Seraphina added. "I'm fine now. You should head back."
Since she had spoken, Silas had no choice but to nod. "Alright. Take care of yourself, and call me anytime if you need anything."
Silas started the car and gave Elara a polite nod in farewell.
He then turned to Sienna. "I'll look into those job opportunities for you, Sienna. Seraphina will let you know when you can start."
Sienna nodded eagerly. "Got it! You're the best, Silas!"
Elara watched her daughter grinning like a fool and shook her head with a sigh.
"Elara," Seraphina called out.
Elara patted her hand, signaling her to wait, then turned to Sienna. "Sienna, Seraphina is staying for dinner tonight. Run down to the corner store and pick up some of her favorite groceries."
"You got it! I'm on it," Sienna agreed instantly.
Since Silas hadn't left yet, he offered, "Hop in, Sienna. I can drop you off on my way."
