He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 87

Ring, ring—!

Buck's phone blared in his pocket.

His hand was still firmly gripping the hem of Seraphina's shirt, his eyes locked onto her with a predatory, sickening gleam.

But whoever was calling was clearly too important to ignore. Cursing, he let go and walked several yards away. "Yes, Miss Foster. It's me. Go ahead..."

Miss Foster.

Felicity?!

Seraphina's mind raced. Felicity's original plan was to have Alaric lure her to the bar. Were these two thugs the muscle she had stationed there?

Because her plan got derailed when she faked a depressive episode and Pierce rushed her to the ER—coincidentally running into Alaric—she had pivoted and sent these two directly after her instead?

Buck had walked quite a distance away, his voice dropping to an inaudible murmur. Seraphina couldn't make out a single word.

Slim, however, was still standing right over her, clearly itching to finish pulling up her shirt.

Seraphina locked eyes with him and screamed, "Are you planning to take a private set of photos so you can extort Pierce yourself and keep all the money?!"

She yelled it at the top of her lungs, projecting her voice as far as she could.

She needed Buck to hear her.

Slim panicked instantly, lunging forward to clamp his hand over her mouth. "Shut up! Shut up! I'll kill you right now, I swear to God!"

"Kill me and you get absolutely nothing. Think about it."

Furious that she wasn't intimidated, Slim spat, "Pierce must have the worst luck in the world marrying a slut like you! Begging to get naked for the camera... I bet half the men in Hudson City have your private photos by now!"

Pierce had the worst luck marrying her?

Seraphina let out a cold, hollow laugh. Maybe he did.

If they had never gotten involved, maybe both of their lives would have been a hell of a lot better.

Buck finished his call and stomped back over, his expression dark. "Miss Foster says no naked photos. Her brother has some business ties with Pierce, and she doesn't want to risk ruining their relationship."

"So what do we do?" Slim whined. "We can't do this, we can't do that. What does she actually want?"

Buck glared at Seraphina with dead, hollow eyes. "She wants us to kill her right now. No complications. Keep it clean."
