He Finally Noticed Me Right When I Was Leaving novel Chapter 89

Lyra stared at him in utter shock.

A toxic wave of jealousy and fury burned behind her eyes.

Why? Seraphina had literally given birth to another man's child, and Pierce was still willing to take her back?!

He was even willing to raise a bastard child that didn't share a drop of his blood?!

What kind of voodoo had Seraphina worked on him to make him so hopelessly obsessed?!

It didn't matter. As long as she could stall him tonight, Seraphina would cease to exist by morning.

Comforted by the thought of her rival's impending death, her mood instantly lifted. "That's wonderful," she said softly. "When you bring the baby home, I'll help cover for you. We'll just tell everyone the child is yours. The timeline might be a bit tricky, though, so you and Seraphina will need to get your stories completely straight."

At the mention of his grandfather, a flash of resistance crossed Pierce's eyes.

His grandfather had been a military man his entire life and demanded absolute obedience from his descendants. Since Pierce's father had refused to enlist, Alistair had poured all his domineering expectations onto Pierce.

Back then, Pierce had rejected his grandfather's orders to attend the military academy, choosing instead to go to a business school in the capital so he could stay with Seraphina.

Alistair had been so furious he hadn't spoken to Pierce for years.

But since Pierce was his only grandson, the ninety-year-old patriarch had eventually relented, declaring he would only approve of the marriage if Seraphina gave him a great-grandchild immediately.

At the time, Pierce hadn't seen the problem.

He was madly in love with Seraphina, and their physical chemistry was explosive. He was certain they would conceive right after the wedding.

He never could have predicted that the night before the wedding, his entire life would violently crash and burn.

"Don't say a word to my grandfather yet," Pierce ordered coldly. "Don't you have a lot of shifts at the hospital lately? Focus on your own work."
