He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 145

Yardley immediately lifted his gaze.

Jacqueline Langley stood imposingly at the hospital room door, her wavy hair cascading over a brand-new white suit. Her piercing, commanding eyes were locked entirely on him.

Feeling a familiar wave of dread wash over him, Yardley politely greeted her.

"Mom."

"Do not call me Mom. Who is your mother?"

Jacqueline fired back without a shred of mercy. "Do not call me that. I don't deserve the title. Corinne is your mother. I have absolutely nothing to do with you."

Yardley quietly wiped a drop of cold sweat from his brow and offered an awkward reply.

"Mom, Scarlett and I aren't divorced yet, so you—"

Jacqueline let out a harsh sneer, cutting him off with biting sarcasm.

"Oh, so you actually remember that you and Scarlett aren't divorced?"

"Then let me ask you this. Where were you when Scarlett was giving birth?"

Yardley was struck completely speechless. "I..."

"And where exactly were you during her entire postpartum recovery period?"

He still couldn't offer a single word of defense.

Jacqueline crossed her arms tightly over her chest and pointed a sharp finger directly at the door.

"Since you were completely absent for both the birth and her recovery, I can only assume you believe there is no reason to salvage this marriage. It's obvious the Flynn family doesn't want this child, either. Since that's the case, get out. You are not welcome here."

Her words were absolute, leaving him absolutely no room to negotiate.

In the past, no matter how dissatisfied she had been with this son-in-law, or how much she despised his mother, she had always kept up a polite front so that Scarlett wouldn't suffer any backlash.

For five long years, even knowing her daughter was being mistreated behind closed doors, Jacqueline had swallowed every ugly word she wanted to scream.

She did it for no other reason than wanting her daughter to find happiness.

But now, Jacqueline was exceptionally furious.

She realized that all of their endurance and humility had earned them absolutely zero respect from the Flynn family. It had only fueled their blatant neglect and coldness.

Since that was the reality, she refused to hold back an inch.

Jacqueline glared at him, her eyes brimming with intense caution and open hostility.

-

Corinne had been forcibly shoved into the car.

Yardley had been completely ruthless this time, ordering the driver to step on the gas and take her straight back home.

Corinne's lungs felt like they were going to explode from sheer rage.

The second she stepped through her front door, she grabbed a decorative vase from the entryway and smashed it violently against the floor.

"That ungrateful wretch. He marries a wife and completely forgets his own mother."

"How dare he treat me like that. Fine. He wants to kick me out? Then I will show him exactly what I am capable of."

She immediately pulled out her phone and dialed Gwen.

"That fire at La Belle Nuit we talked about. Is it arranged yet?"

Hearing the explosive fury in her sister's voice, Gwen replied with a hint of surprise.

"I've already contacted someone. We're just waiting for the perfect moment. But are we really doing this?"

"I feel like it's a huge risk. If we can't clean up the mess afterward—"
