In another hospital room.
Sylvia and Gwen sat huddled together, looking utterly miserable.
Sylvia groaned, "Mom, what are we going to do? How did Scarlett become so untouchable? She actually got concrete evidence that we hired someone to start the fire! Now Aunt Corinne and Yardley both hate us."
She let out an exasperated sigh, her voice laced with despair.
"We were supposed to turn the tables on her, but now we've lost everything and we have to pay them a massive fortune on top of it!"
Gwen shot her daughter a venomous glare.
"What else can we do? The damage is done. If we don't pay up, Scarlett will literally send us to prison. This is all your fault. If you had just kept your distance from your cousin, none of this would have happened."
Sylvia immediately whined, her face scrunching up in defense.
"Mom, how is this my fault? Everything traces back to Scarlett!"
She frowned, her tone shifting to suspicion. "But honestly, I'm getting really freaked out. How did she suddenly get so powerful? Mom, someone has to be backing her. We need to find out who it is!"
Gwen rubbed her temples, stressed beyond belief.
"That guy who's always trailing her... what's his name? Stellan? He's clearly a high-level professional. With Scarlett and Jacqueline's current financial situation, they absolutely cannot afford someone with his skill set."
"Sylvia, we can't just sit here and take hits. We need to call in reinforcements."
Sylvia looked agonized.
"Dad refuses to help us, and we definitely can't let him know about this mess—he'd rip us apart. Who else is there?"
Gwen fell into a deep silence for several seconds before a dark realization crossed her face.
"Sylvia, there's one person. If he steps in, Scarlett and Jacqueline won't stand a chance."
Sylvia leaned in, desperate. "Who, Mom?"
Gwen stared dead into her daughter's eyes.
