He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 167

Clarissa and Yardley were both struck completely speechless.

Clarissa instinctively reached out and grabbed Scarlett's hand.

"I didn't step in before because I truly believed a husband and wife should handle their own issues without outside interference."

"Scarlett, I know you were treated horribly. Even my dad said Mom's behavior regarding your pregnancy and the baby lacked all class and decency."

"I'm here today to apologize, but I also want to talk to you about the baby's 100-day celebration. My dad wants to throw a massive, high-profile event to publicly make up for everything you've suffered. But the condition is... you have to let go of this grudge. Stop fighting us, and go back to living a good life with Yardley."

Clarissa wasn't speaking with her usual aristocratic arrogance. She was speaking softly, as an equal trying to negotiate.

It was the first time in five years that any Flynn had treated Scarlett like a human being on their level.

In the past, whether it was Clarissa, Catherine, or Melanie, every interaction with Scarlett involved them looking down their noses at her like she was dirt on their shoes.

If Scarlett hadn't metaphorically burned their house down and gone to war, they never would have offered her this level of respect.

Realizing this, Scarlett let out a cold laugh in her mind. On the outside, her face remained an unreadable mask of calm, and she didn't say a word.

Anticipating that Clarissa might show up to play peacemaker, Scarlett had already texted Talia Gray to join her.

The moment Talia got the text, she had floored the gas pedal and rushed over. Standing outside the door, she caught the tail end of Clarissa's speech. Her blood boiled instantly.

With a loud BANG, Talia kicked the private room's door wide open.

"Is the esteemed eldest daughter of the Flynn family here to perform a stand-up routine?"

"Friends are supposed to encourage couples to work things out, not fan the flames and push for a divorce. What kind of best friend are you? Do you just hate seeing Scarlett happy?"

Talia let out a sharp, mocking laugh and violently slammed the table three times in rapid succession, her aura towering over Clarissa's.

"It's exactly because I tried to stay out of her 'family business' that I had to sit back and watch her endure five years of slavery in your psychotic house!"

"Now that my girl is finally ready to crawl out of your family's fire pit, you bet your ass I'm cheering her on! You accuse me of not wanting her to be happy? Let me ask you this: As her sister-in-law, where the hell were you when she was miserable?"

"Don't sit there acting like some benevolent savior. You stood by and watched her swallow glass for five years!"

"Listen to me, Clarissa. If you really want Scarlett to drop the divorce, your little apology isn't going to cut it. You need to drag your mother down here and have her apologize to Scarlett directly!"
