He Lost Me to His Best Friend novel Chapter 177

Yardley’s vision went dark at the edges. He clutched his chest, so furious he couldn't even form words.

Scarlett watched him coldly, realizing that even now, he refused to let Sylvia face the consequences of her own actions. He was still playing her knight in shining armor.

Wow, she thought. This is the husband I chose. The man I was secretly in love with for years.

She truly wanted to pour acid in her own eyes for being so blind back then.

"You keep claiming you treat me well, Yardley. Tell me, do you still believe that?"

"If you had treated me with even a third of the devotion you give Sylvia, we never would have ended up here."

Yardley’s breath hitched. "Why do you constantly compare yourself to Sylvia? She... she's always been fragile, but you..."

"Haha..." Scarlett actually burst out laughing.

Forget it. She finally understood his twisted logic completely.

Sylvia was fragile. The squeaky wheel gets the grease, so naturally, she deserved all the favoritism and protection.

Meanwhile, Scarlett was just the sturdy weed that had survived every storm since childhood. So, naturally, she was expected to handle everything on her own and didn't deserve an ounce of care.

What absolute garbage logic.

What a garbage man.

Scarlett didn't even have the energy to argue anymore. She was just done. "Let's get a divorce, Yardley."

"Again? The second we disagree on something, you bring up divorce..."

The word felt like a physical blow to Yardley. He shook his head frantically, every fiber of his being rejecting the idea.

"I am not divorcing you. As for everything else you brought up, my family has realized their mistakes."

"My dad, Clarissa, and my grandmother—they all want us to reconcile. They want our daughter back in the Flynn family to be loved and spoiled."

"Scarlett, can't you just give my family one more chance? Either way, I'm not signing those papers, so don't even think about it!"

He was absolutely resolute.

Since Scarlett had finally aired all her grievances, it meant there was room to fix things. His next step would be having a serious talk with his family, especially his mother, and making sure she changed her attitude toward Scarlett and Dawn.

The moment the door swung wide, she froze. Standing right there, staring wide-eyed at them, was a person.

Scarlett hadn't expected anyone else to be lurking outside Yardley’s new apartment. The sudden sight nearly scared the soul out of her body. Once she steadied herself and focused, she realized the eavesdropper was none other than Sylvia.

So not only did Sylvia know the address of his new place, but she also knew the front door passcode?

How long had she been standing there? How much of their conversation had she heard?

A blinding migraine instantly flared in Scarlett’s temples. Completely disgusted, she whipped around and delivered another vicious slap across Yardley’s face.

"This is what you call setting boundaries?"

"People can just waltz right into your home and stand at your door eavesdropping? What's next? Are you going to hand her the keys and make her the lady of the house?"

"The relationship between you two is absolutely repulsive!"

Having vented her fury, she shot Sylvia a murderous glare before storming past her, disappearing down the hall.

If she stayed in that toxic air for even one more second, she was going to suffocate.
