After Yardley left, the hospital room was quiet, leaving only Scarlett, Julian, and a sleeping Dawn.
Scarlett held her daughter, her fingers gently stroking the baby's soft cheek, her eyes instantly welling with tears.
A four-month-old baby should be safe and carefree in her crib, not facing such terrifying medical risks.
She couldn't bear to think about it; every time she did, it felt like a knife twisting in her heart.
"Julian, what if Dawn really is..."
Her voice choked up, unable to finish the sentence.
Looking at her trembling shoulders, Julian's heart ached. He handed her a tissue, his tone steady and grounding.
"Scarlett, look at me."
She looked up, meeting his unwavering gaze.
"The doctor only said 'suspected.' It's not a confirmed diagnosis."
He articulated clearly. "Modern medicine is incredibly advanced. Even if it is, there are numerous treatment plans. What you need to do right now is stay strong. Dawn needs you."
Scarlett sniffled and nodded instinctively.
He continued, "Besides, you're not alone. No matter what happens, I will be right here with you. You don't need to worry about the money; our studio will fully back you."
He had almost said "I will," but caught himself just in time.
Scarlett froze.
There was no polite formality in his eyes—only pure, unadulterated care and unquestionable reliability.
It was as if he were silently promising that if the sky fell, he would hold it up for her.
But they were just friends.
"Thank you, Julian," she whispered, her voice hoarse. "But this is between me and Dawn. You don't have to..."
"I do."
He interrupted smoothly. "Just look at me as... an old friend who cares deeply about you. I am doing this willingly."
Her heart gave a hard thump.
Staring at the gentle, unshakable light in his eyes, the heavy storm clouds in her mind began to part.
Her nose stung, and tears threatened to fall again.
"Alright, enough of the heavy talk."
He smoothly shifted gears. "I've looked into it. We have two options. One is to fly Dr. Daniel in from Country A for a consultation. The second is to transfer Dawn to Mercy International Hospital in Sutton City, which my family owns. The equipment there is far more advanced, and the privacy is airtight. It's only an hour's drive from here."
Scarlett was taken aback.
