Veronica’s mind raced with the possibilities. She had lusted after Yardley for a long time. Honestly, with his striking looks, incredible physique, and dominant aura, having him by her side would absolutely obliterate the husbands of her socialite friends. The sheer status of being Mrs. Yardley Flynn was intoxicating.
Lost in her fantasies, she didn't respond immediately.
Thinking Veronica still wasn't taking the bait, Sylvia grew frantic. "I have more! I also know that Yardley and Scarlett are finalizing their divorce. They’re probably heading to City Hall in the next day or two."
"If you don't lock down this partnership right now, the second that five billion hits his account, he won't even need Thorne Industries anymore. He'll have his pick of partners."
That was all it took. Veronica instantly dropped her icy superiority, her voice sweetening like honey.
"Sylvia, you really are my best friend. Girls have to look out for each other, right?"
"Don't worry about a thing. It’s a minor legal hiccup. Just send me the exact details, and I'll make a few calls. I'll make it go away."
Sylvia let out a massive breath of relief and quickly recounted the specifics of the police report.
When she finished, Veronica clicked her tongue, unable to hide her disdain. "I'm not trying to judge, Sylvia, but that was incredibly stupid. How could you make such an amateur mistake?"
Sylvia swallowed her pride. "I know. I let my emotions get the better of me. It won't happen again."
Veronica smirked. "A recording alone isn't enough to secure a conviction if you have the right lawyers. Relax. I've got this handled."
"But from now on, you answer to me. When Yardley and I get married, I’ll make sure you're well taken care of."
"I might even set you up with one of the elite bachelors in my circle. We'll be family, after all. Sound good?"
