Yardley marched over and demanded to know what they had found. The police informed him that the fire originated from his vehicle parked in the underground garage, which had spontaneously combusted, causing the flames to spread rapidly through the house. Currently, there was zero evidence pointing to arson.
Yardley trembled with rage. His intuition screamed that the report was absolute garbage.
He had just attempted to lock Scarlett up in this very house, and immediately after, it burned to the ground. Given Scarlett's recent string of unhinged behavior, he was ninety-nine percent sure she was the one who orchestrated it.
Corinne was already throwing a massive fit on the sidelines.
"Nonsense! That is absolute nonsense! It was deliberate arson! Definitely arson!"
"My son's house and my sister's house burn down at the exact same time, and you're telling me you can't prove it? If that isn't a load of crap, what is?"
"Coincidences like this don't even happen in movies! Go back and investigate properly! I guarantee that's not the cause!"
Corinne grew increasingly hysterical, wildly waving her hands, nearly clawing the police captain's face.
The captain's expression darkened instantly.
"We brought in the most authoritative experts to analyze the scene. The primary cause is definitively spontaneous vehicle combustion!"
"Mr. Flynn, Mrs. Flynn, I understand your frustration, but I must ask you not to interfere with official police procedures..."
Yardley grabbed Corinne by the arm, knowing further arguments were pointless. He spoke with strained composure.
"My mother is just highly emotional, Captain. Please, continue investigating from all angles. Check if anyone managed to slip into our garage and tamper with the vehicle."
After speaking, Yardley dragged Corinne away from the chaotic scene.
The moment they got into the car, Corinne's phone rang. It was Gwen.
"Corinne! What kind of psycho did you let marry into your family? She actually ordered arson! What's next? Is she going to murder us all in our sleep?"
"You need to come over here and see what's left of my home! If you keep letting her run wild, it's going to cost us everything!"
"You and Yardley need to come over here right now and give my family a proper explanation! I need to know exactly what Yardley intends to do! Our preliminary estimates put our losses at over two hundred million dollars. Who's going to compensate me for that?"
Standing in front of her own ruined villa, Corinne felt so furious she could pass out.
She found it utterly inconceivable that Scarlett had become this terrifyingly untouchable.
It was beyond arrogant. It was a level of brazen defiance that completely shattered Corinne's worldview.
