He Loves Me Right, Finally novel Chapter 132

After getting home, Wynette immediately plugged the flash drive Lorelei had given her into her laptop.

The video was short. It showed Eve handing a bank card to a woman.

The footage had clearly been taken from far away, so there was no sound. They couldn't hear what Eve was saying.

Obviously, Lorelei hadn't dared get too close at the time.

Wynette figured Lorelei must have looked into her before deciding to approach her.

And honestly, that bit of sincerity from Lorelei had helped a lot.

Wynette told Shirley to get the money ready and deliver it to Lorelei tomorrow.

If Lorelei really married into the Shepherds, that family was definitely in for trouble.

Wynette stared quietly at the video after it ended. One question kept running through her mind. Did Adam know his family was behind the Jewell Group's bankruptcy?

Adam had always been good to her. At times, Adam's kindness was so overwhelming that it made Wynette uncomfortable.

But if he had known the truth all along and still treated her that way...

Wynette forced herself to stop thinking about it. The thought alone sent a chill through her body.

In the end, she decided to go home and talk to Kaylee.

At the very least, she wanted to understand what happened back then and found out the name of that so-called best friend.

When Wynette got there, Kaylee was just about to leave.

"Why didn't you tell me you were coming home?" "Kaylee asked as she set down her purse and insulated lunch bag. "I'm heading out to visit your dad."

The moment Wynette stepped inside, she noticed something was different. The living room looked much emptier than before. The downstairs guest room was under renovation.

Wynette looked around in confusion. "Mom, did we get robbed?"

Kaylee had always liked the house clean. Wynette had only been away for a few days, yet the place already looked messy and half-empty.

"Oh, I forgot to tell you." Kaylee pulled her toward the guest room. "We're remodeling the house. I'm moving the main bedroom downstairs. The guest room was too small, so I had the wall knocked down and turned the two guest rooms into one."

The guest room had changed a lot. It was much more spacious now. There was barely any furniture inside, which really didn't feel like Kaylee's style.

Kaylee excitedly showed her the new layout before leading Wynette to the room at the end of the hallway.

"Oh right, when you have time, help me pick out some workout equipment. I want to set it up in this room."

Wynette looked even more confused. "Why are you suddenly keeping everything so simple? The living room and bedrooms are practically empty."

That really wasn't like Kaylee at all.

Kaylee suddenly slapped her forehead. "Ah, look at me. I forgot to tell you the important part. I visited your dad at the treatment center a few days ago. We talked, and he said he wants to come home. So I cleared out the extra furniture to make room for his rehab equipment."

Ryker needed a wheelchair now.

Clearing out the rooms and living space would make it easier for him to move around once he came home.

Wynette stared at her in shock. "Dad agreed to come home?"

Back then, staying at the treatment center had been Ryker's choice. The issue had nearly led to divorce between him and Kaylee.

Ryker had been the one who mentioned it, but Kaylee refused to accept it no matter what.

Neither of them wanted Wynette to know, so they argued about it in private.

But in the end, Ryker still insisted on moving into the treatment center.

Because of that, Kaylee had always believed Ryker blamed her for trusting the wrong people and causing the Jewell Group to collapse. That guilt had stayed buried in her heart ever since.

A lot of Kaylee's extreme behavior came from her belief that only by saving the Jewell Group could she prove she wasn't the family's biggest failure.

She had spent every day anxious and depressed, becoming more stubborn and emotional over time.

Kaylee smiled softly. "He told me himself that he wants to come home. So I thought I'd clear out the extra furniture and move the master bedroom downstairs. It'll be easier for him that way."

"That actually makes sense," Wynette said with a nod.
