When Adriel arrived carrying bags of groceries, Kaylee and Ryker were still in the bedroom.
Wynette and Adriel were getting busy in the kitchen.
After hearing Wynette mention that she wanted to find a traditional doctor for Ryker, Adriel cleared his throat lightly.
"I know someone. My grandfather has an old friend who specializes in traditional medicine. My grandparents have trusted him with their health for years."
Carl and Lila were already in their eighties, yet they were still strong and active.
The couple owned dozens of acres of land near the family estate. They often spent their days growing vegetables, working the fields, and taking care of their small farm.
There were chickens, ducks, geese, cattle, sheep, and even several large fish ponds on the property. They lived a quiet and relaxing life.
Wynette knew about them.
She looked at Adriel. "Would it be too much trouble?"
Anyone close enough to be friends with the Gallaghers was clearly not an ordinary person.
Adriel shook his head. "Not at all. I'll talk to my grandpa tonight and ask him to help set it up."
He could handle the arrangements.
After a brief pause, Wynette said, "Then I'll send you copies of my dad's medical records and test reports from the last few years."
"Sure," Adriel said. "I'll have my grandpa show them to the doctor. But when you get the chance, you should bring Mr. Jewell in for an in-person checkup."
Medical files could only say so much. Seeing the patient face-to-face and reading his pulse was always more reliable.
Wynette nodded.
She went upstairs, sorted through Ryker's records and test results, organized everything into a folder, and brought it back down to Adriel.
After taking the folder, Adriel noticed Wynette handing him another small sealed bag. Inside were the pills she had stopped Ryker from taking earlier at the center.
Adriel looked up at her.
Wynette's expression turned serious. "You're close with Gavin, right? Can you ask him to test these medications for me?"
The moment she said it, Adriel understood immediately. "You think someone messed with Mr. Jewell's medicine?"
Wynette nodded. "The nurse said Dr. Day changed the prescription. But Dr. Day never mentioned anything to me. Before this, the doctor always informed me whenever there was a change."
That was exactly what bothered her.
Nelson had also told her that Ryker's stroke was not severe. In the worst-case scenario, he might have ended up partially paralyzed. But with proper rehab and treatment, there had been a very good chance he could walk; his speech problems could improve over time too.
There was no guarantee he would recover perfectly. At worst, he might walk with a slight limp or speak more slowly than before.
But Ryker's condition had barely improved; Wynette grew suspicious because of this.
Adriel frowned as he stared at the sealed bag in his hand. "You think even that doctor can't be trusted?"
Otherwise, Wynette would not have handed the pills directly to him and asked him to get them tested.
She trusted him.
The thought alone nearly made the smile on Adriel's face impossible to hide.
Being trusted by his wife felt way too good.
Wynette answered honestly, "I don't know if I can trust him. But right now, you're the only person I trust."
The moment those words left her mouth, the smile on Adriel's face practically lit up the entire kitchen.
He forced himself to stay calm and replied in a low voice, "I'll take these to Gavin myself and have him test them personally."
"You don't have to rush this," Wynette said awkwardly.
She knew Gavin usually spent his evenings relaxing and having fun. As long as the medicine got tested eventually, she did not think it had to happen right away.
Adriel only smiled in response.
At that moment, Kaylee pushed Ryker out of the bedroom. The first thing they saw was Wynette and Adriel standing in the kitchen, smiling at each other.
Kaylee quickly glanced at her husband. Ryker did not seem upset. She finally relaxes at this.
