He Loves Me Right, Finally novel Chapter 139

A little after nine that evening, Wynette received a call from Adriel.

His tone was unusually serious. "The test results are back. Gavin's with me now. Can you come over?"

He could have brought the report to Wynette's house himself. But with her parents there, he was not sure whether Wynette wanted them to know about this.

The moment she heard his voice, Wynette knew the situation was bad. "I'm coming," she replied softly.

A sense of unease crept into her chest. Luckily, she had caught the problem today. But what about all the medicine Ryker had taken before?

Without even changing out of her slippers, Wynette rushed to Adriel's place.

As soon as Gavin saw her walk into the living room, the word slipped out before he could stop himself. "Hey, sister-in-law!"

By the time he realized what he had said, it was already too late.

The sudden way he addressed her caught Wynette completely off guard. She stumbled and nearly lost her footing.

Fortunately, Adriel reacted quickly and grabbed her arm to steady her. He shot Gavin a cold glance. "Stop calling her that."

What if he scared Wynette so badly that she refused to talk to him again?

Gavin gave an awkward laugh. "Relax. It's going to happen sooner or later anyway. If I keep saying it, Wynette will get used to it eventually. Right, Wynette?"

Wynette forced a stiff smile at him. She honestly had no idea how to respond to that.

Adriel walked over and smacked Gavin lightly on the back of the head. "Enough nonsense. Get to the point."

That instantly wiped the grin off Gavin's face. He handed the report to Wynette.

"I checked all the medicine you brought me. Most of it was fine, but there were two drugs mixed into the medication. One can slowly damage the nervous system if taken long-term. The other thickens the blood, which can lead to blockages. Over time, it could cause another stroke."

When Gavin first found out, he had nearly cursed out loud; whoever did this was beyond cruel.

At this point, he strongly suspected Ryker's inability to recover over the past few years might be connected to those two drugs.

Wynette's face immediately turned pale. She had suspected something was wrong with the medicine; had she discovered it too late?

Before she could ask anything, Gavin continued. "I don't think he's been taking these drugs for a long time. If he'd been on them for the past three years, he probably would've suffered a second stroke already."

After a short pause, he added, "Sorry. I accessed Mr. Jewell's medical records from the last three years without asking first. The prescriptions themselves were all normal. I also confirmed that none of the medicine Dr. Day prescribed contained those two drugs."

Gavin looked at her seriously. "From what Adriel told me, I think you should investigate Dr. Day and the center staff. Anyone who get in touch with your dad should be looked into.

"I'll contact the hospital ahead of time. Bring Mr. Jewell in tomorrow for a full checkup."

Right now, the most important thing was finding out whether Ryker had taken those drugs before. If he had, how long had it been? And were there still traces of the drugs left in his system?

What mattered most was whether the medication had already caused damage.

Wynette's heart almost jumped out from her throat.

She quickly took out her phone and opened a file she had saved. Inside were detailed records of every medication Ryker had taken over the past three years.

The dosage he took every day. His condition every month. Everything had been carefully documented.

At the time, Wynette thought it was safer to keep records just in case. Now, she was incredibly thankful she had done it.

Adriel noticed what she was doing and turned to Gavin. "Check these too. See if anything stands out."

He then asked Wynette to send him screenshots of the records.

Wynette simply handed the phone to Gavin.
